White Heather Farm

Kenmare, Kerry, V93VXD0

4km from Kenmare

Meet your host…

Lovett Family

The Lovett Family have been farming the land for generations and welcoming guests for over 40 years. The old stone farm cottage still exists. Cattle mainly Hereford @ Charolais and sheep namely Suffolk @ Scotch are reared on the farm. There is always lots of work to be done on the farm with the vegetables being sown in spring and silage cutting during the summer months. Many of our guests take a stroll before or after breakfast to the farm, enjoying the panoramic views on the way.

Glengarriff Road

Nestled on 100 acres of luscious farmland, enjoy stunning views of County Kerry’s majestic mountains and the buzz of life on a working farm at White Heather Farm. The Lovett family have been welcoming guests for more than 30 years, treating them to orthopaedic beds, indulgent breakfasts and great local knowledge. Ideal for tours of the Ring of Kerry, Beara Peninsula and Bonane Heritage Park, the picturesque town of Kenmare is also 4km away. Guests can enjoy gourmet restaurants, vibrant pubs and a wealth of outdoor activities.

Farmstay Experience

There is always something to do on the farm; with the vegetables being sown in spring and silage cutting during the summer months. Guests can take a stroll around the farm and see the vegetable garden and the orchard, they can even visit the hens to collect eggs.  Guests may also have a stroll on the mountain at the back of the farm and if they are feeling very adventurous guests are welcome to go for a swim on the river Sheen which flows through the farm!

How to get here

Take the Glengarriff Road N71 from Kenmare town, after driving approximately 3.5km, White Heather Farmhouse (located in an area known as Gortrooskagh) is signposted on the right-hand side of the road.

We very much enjoyed our 2-night stay at White Heather Farm! Sheila is a lovely and welcoming host. She is very helpful with planning out your day and shares great tips for making your trip even better than expected... Great breakfast too! Would definitely stay again!

Sheila was very nice and welcoming. The room was nice. I did not realize our bathroom was across the hall so that was a surprise to me. We also had a hard time figuring out the shower but once Sheila rescued us we figured it out. Breakfast was wonderful. It was about a 45 minute ride to Kilarney. The home is nice with kind of a cottage feel.

It's a working farm, so there were some flies around which is only to be expected. Some difficulty finding it since Irish roads tend to have more than one name and no street signs - directions from Hotels.com said Glengarriff Road, on N71, 4 km from Kenmare but didn't say which way out of town. LOL Turns out N71 goes both north and south but Glengaririff Rd is only the south part of N71 - and of course it's not marked! LOL Anyway, Sheila is very friendly, outspoken, funny, typically Irish. The room was ample but chilly - but the blankets were ample, too. Breakfast was nice. The price was a little higher than some other B&B's

We stayed for 2 nights and had a wonderful host. Sheila is great, very friendly and easy to talk with. There is sitting room which allows you space to enjoy your private time outside of the bedroom. Location was fabulous. Could stay at this location longer. Oh yes, breakfast, yummy .
