Meath’s Battle of the Boyne Visitor Centre

The Battle of the Boyne Visitor Centre guarantees a fun-filled and interesting time for all the family as you get to imagine what life was like during this historic 1690 battle. The centre can be found in the onsite Oldbridge House, which was built in the 1740s, and its Living History programme transports you back in time for you to gain an insight into cavalry trooper training, the life of a musketeer and the different regiments that fought valiantly.

The Kildare Maze Activity Park

The countryside of North Kildare boasts Leinster’s largest hedge maze and its activity park makes for a fantastic day of challenging and laughter-filled fun for the family to look forward to. The objective of the Hedge Maze, which covers approximately one acre, is to find your way to the centre, whilst the Wooden Maze is much simpler and is more suited to younger children. Crazy golf, an adventure trail and a zip wire are all great fun as well.

Offaly’s Lough Boora Discovery Park

Lough Boora Discovery Park is the ideal place to get a breath of fresh air while enjoying a whole range of outdoor activities. The park is a haven for wildlife, with a stunning diversity of flora and fauna to appreciate, along with gorgeous views. Activities include three cycling routes, five walking trails, a dramatic outdoor sculpture park, four angling lakes and even a fairy trail! Offaly is the historical crossroads of  Ireland.

The Kilkenny Ghost Tour

Kilkenny is the medieval capital of Ireland and with all this fascinating history brings equally as exciting paranormal stories, that have been told and passed down from generation to generation. The walking ghost tour lasts one hour and takes you on a spooky adventure, including tales of the first ever witch trial and the curse of Sir Richard Shee. Your tour guide will be a chilling character, such as Dr Death or The Banshee!

Waterford’s Suir Valley Railway

Waterford’s Suir Valley Railway is family friendly and runs along the banks of the stunning River Suir, offering breath-taking views of the world-famous Mount Congreve Gardens. Not only is the kids train a fantastic experience, the railway also runs family events, including teddy bear picnics and birds of prey events!

The Blackrock Castle Observatory in Cork is the ideal place for some fascinating educational fun! It boasts what’s known as ‘Cosmos at the Castle’ which is an interactive astronomy exhibition that tells you all there is to know about our universe.
