Summer Festivals in Ireland

Summer Festivals in IrelandFestivals run throughout the year in Ireland, but in the summer months there’s always an additional jam-packed calendar of events that occur in every city, town, village and countryside location throughout the country. There’s no doubt about it, we Irish love a gathering, and best of all, we love visitors to join in and enjoy them too!

Meet the Locals

Ireland is renowned for its stunning beauty, epic landscapes and its many tourist attractions. But it’s also known for its friendly people and we all know that it’s the people you meet that can make a holiday really special. There are so many different types of breaks to be enjoyed on your trip to Ireland, but if possible, a festival should be a must-do on your itinerary. You’ll meet with the locals, have the craic and make memories that will last forever.

There’s a festival for everyone!

Summer Festivals in IrelandWhatever your passion, it’s more than likely that there will be a festival celebration of your interest occurring in Ireland this summer! From walking, music, dance and food festivals to writing, cultural, heritage and film, Ireland has it covered. Festivals and events in Ireland are very much community focused. In fact, the locals are heavily involved in the organisation of these events, and the emphasis is on having fun, a chat and a bit of craic. Visitors are encouraged to get involved and enjoy the festivities alongside the locals. Attending a festival is the perfect way to experience the real Irish way of life, and if you also choose to stay in B&B accommodation, then you have will have the perfect combination. B&B hosts will show you Irish hospitality, look after your comforts, feed you well, and will fill you in on the best events to attend in the locality.

What’s on

Summer Festivals in IrelandThe Cork Summer Festival in June has a packed programme of events and sees the streets, parks and outdoor spaces in Cork City transformed into stages where Irish and international artists entertain the crowds. Galway Arts Festival in July runs for two weeks, where there is something for everyone, including theatre, dance, visual arts, street performances, music, literature and comedy. In August, the Puck Fair takes place in County Kerry. This is a real family friendly event with entertainment galore and tends to have a real carnival atmosphere. The National Ploughing Championships in County Lois is the Europe’s biggest outdoor exhibition and agricultural trade show. But don’t worry, it’s not all about tractors! There’s fashion shows, sheep dog trials, celebrity guests, cookery demonstrations to name a few and the event attracts literally thousands of visitors from across the world.

So, if you have never attended a festival in Ireland, then this summer is your chance to change this alarming statistic! Come and enjoy the beauty of the Emerald Isle, meet the friendly locals and attend one of our many festivals. See you there!
