A Unique Tour of The Marble Arch Caves

Watch Fermanagh’s visitor attractions come alive this weekend as the Fermanagh History Weekend kicks off in style today. The weekend is dedicated to the rich and vibrant history of the Lakeland County and there will be various family friendly events available throughout the county.

Today kicks off with a guided tour of Belleek Pottery, Ireland’s oldest working pottery while the Orchard Acre Farm hosts an authentic WW1 dining experience similar to that of the hit show Downton Abbey.

Marble Arch Caves

For those who have not heard of The Marble Arch Caves, its a spectacle in itself. The caves are a natural limestone underworld of rivers, waterfalls, winding passages and lofty chambers with pillars, stalagmites, stalactites and other features of erosion. In light of this weekends History celebrations in the county, visitors will get a unique opportunity to meet Mr. Edouard Martel this Saturday, the man who first explored the caves in 1895. Visitors will get an insight into that famous first expedition that took Edouard into the depths of the underground. The caves will also host three storytelling sessions in the geopark and learn about some of the myths and legends associated with the caves. You can catch the sessions at 12:00pm, 2:00pm and 3:00pm and each session lasts 15 minutes.

One of the benefits of a B&B is that you’ll find one close to most major attractions in Ireland. Make sure to check out some of the great B&BS available in Fermanagh.
