History

Wexford was founded by the Vikings in 800 AD, invaded by the Normans in 1169 and in the Middle Ages was an old English settlement. To explore Wexford’s history and heritage it is recommended that you visit the National 1798 Rebellion Centre, Dunbrody Famine Ship, Irish National Heritage Park, Enniscorthy Castle and Ferns Castle.
