Downpatrick Head, at the north of Co. Mayo, truly is a sight to behold. Standing at 126ft above the sea, the views of the Atlantic waves crashing against the shore are breath-taking. The amazing 45m high sea stack, ‘Dun Briste’, can clearly be seen, which separated from the mainland in 1393. An old stone building can be found at the top of Downpatrick Head, which was used as a lookout during the Second World War. Now, it is the ideal location for bird-watching, giving you a wonderful vantage point to spot the varied birdlife.
