County Kerry

Meet your host…

Margaret Moriarty

Gene and I have lived in Killarney all our lives, our families were also B&B hosts from the mid fifties. We rebuilt Beniska House in 2000 and have really enjoyed helping our guests from various countries enjoy all the scenery of Kerry over the past twelve years. While we are aware that our town is becoming more and more commercial, we cannot emphasise enough that there are acres and acres of unspoilt landscape which you can explore in peace and quiet.

County Kerry natives Gene and Margaret Moriarty built the luxurious Beniska House in 2000 and happily share their wealth of local knowledge with guests. A 4-star rated home with spacious bedrooms and a comfortable guest lounge, it’s superbly located for visits to the Dingle and Beara Peninsulas and the acclaimed Gap of Dunloe. Only 4km from the lively town of Killarney, guests can enjoy renowned pubs and restaurants and spend a day outdoors with Killarney Golf and Fishing Club nearby.

Very welcoming, clean and comfortable. Gene is a wonderful tour guide, offering suggestions of sights and history. We loved Killarney and only wish the B & B was a bit closer for walking into town although it is right across the street from a wonderful walking/bike path.

Margaret and Gene were great hosts! The location of their house is perfect for getting to any of the sights in and around Killarney. On our first morning, Margaret sat down with us at the breakfast table with a map and helped us plan out our day and what times to visit certain sights. We followed her advice and had a wonderful day. Gap of Dunloe in the evening was amazing. No horse carts and very few cars. It was a beautiful quiet walk for us and the landscape and sheep was a great sight. We spent two nights and I would go back there again if we get to Killarney.

The Beniska House was perfect! within walking distance of Killarney town; scrumptious breakfasts; both Gene and Margaret were always sharing knowledge and advice about daily activities. Ring of Kelly was our favorite and Gene was careful to point out special tour deviation to get the most out of our trip, and Margaret strongly encouraged Dingle Peninsula, which was beautiful as well. Definitely an excellent place to stay!

Simply delightful from the moment we arrived. We were warmly welcomed, shown the tea/coffee service, given recommendations for dinner. Our room was immaculate & the bathroom sparkled. Loved the taller than usual shower head & toiletries, especially the shower cap (that I forgot to pack). Breakfast was wonderful, the cheese tray was just over the top, and I finally learned the difference between real bacon & rashers. Gene provided a wonderful map of the Ring of Kerry and Margaret graciously wrapped a couple of scones for a mid morning snack. If God blesses us with another trip to Ireland we plan to return to Beniska House.
