Meet your host…

Christina Byrne

Hi I am Chris your host. I have thoroughly enjoyed sharing my home with guests from all over the world for many years. I love to cook. I bake Irish soda bread and scones daily as well as making preserves from the fruits of my garden. The Slieve Blooms and Lough Boora Parklands are excellent for walking and I know them very well as I get out there to explore the trails regularly.I play traditional Irish music on Wednesday nights in one of the local pubs and often take my guests along.

When we first arrived at Ardmore House, Chris offered us coffee or tea. We declined preferring to have a glass of wine after our long drive. She suggested we sit downstairs in her living room and built us a warming peat fire to enjoy. Our room was welcoming and clean. The bed felt like a big hug and (I may have imagined it but) I think the sheets smelled of fresh lavender! Her breakfast was also our favorite of the trip. The preserves she served seemed to have just come out of the garden. It was the perfect ending to an amazing trip. We really appreciated all the extras Chris put forth for her guests. She set the standard for all other hosts. I was sad to leave.

We had a great time. Chris was a great hostess and made us feel very welcome and comfortable. She was very helpful in helping us find great hikes in the mountains during our stay. Definitely on our visit again list.

Jim and Diane thank you for writing this lovely review. I love walking the Slieve Bloom Mountains and Lough Boora Discovery Park myself so I know the many great looped walks in the area. Will be delighted to recommend some more on your next trip Chris

Thanks to Chris for a great nights stay! We were only there one night, but knew that it would be the best night of our trip. First, Chris's directions to her place were excellent-follow them. Second, her home is amazing! Cozy, clean, beautiful. She greeted us with tea and lemon cake that were delish! Third, we had an amazing night at the local Pub (within walking distance). there was a local entertainer who kept us laughing and singing. A seriously fun night. Fourth. Chris made a great breakfast for us and gave us lots of recommendations which we followed for the rest of our tripand were not disappointed. Our party agreed it was the best stay of our trip! I definitely plan to be back for a much longer stay. Thanks Chris!!

This was our second stay at Ardmore House, and we really enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. The house is beautiful, the surrounding area is also very lovely, and Chris is a wonderful host. We arrived a bit late and Chris was very helpful in suggesting a place where we could have dinner. Our stay was in the first floor guest room, and I was concerned it might be noisy in the morning, but we had no issues at all. The room was lovely, the bathroom large, and everything spotlessly clean. Chris served her excellent full Irish breakfast. It was a lovely place to stay while we explored family sites in the middle of the country. We hope to come back again.

Hi Susan. It was lovely to meet you and Adam again. I am delighted you found my home as enjoyable as your previous stay. Last time you stayed in room 4 on the top floor and I remember you remarked on the beautiful bed linen at that time. This time room 1 on the ground floor or as you called it the ground floor. I am delighted you found this room to be equally as comfortable in all aspects. I look forward to meeting you on your next rip. Don't let it be too long.

Ardmore House in Kinnitty was very beautiful on the outside with beautiful grounds & flowers. Chris, Owner greeted us with hot tea and small sweet muffins. She was very friendly and gave us suggestions on places to visit and eat while there. Two of the best suggestions which you must try while staying at this B&B.. Kinnitty Castle & Hotel....and Slieve Mountain Bar. We ate dinner in the Dungeon Bar at the Castle...then walked along the back river bank behind the castle...beautiful! The local Slieve Mountain Bar was the highlight of our trip where Chris along with other locals gathered that evening for a "session" of all ages. Fiddles, whistles, guitars, banjos, drums, accordions all playing Irish. Celtic 🎶 music. Amazing good time!!! And just in walking distance of the Ardmore House B & B. Each morning Chris cooked a nice breakfast made to order for each of us. We had Bedroom Suite #1 with our own private shower/bathroom. The only thing stopping me from giving Ardmore House a 10 was the bed. The mattress was extremely uncomfortable and lumpy. A memory foam topper would be helpful. The top covers were great and warm. Yes...I would absolutely recommend & return again to the Ardmore House should we make a return trip to Ireland!

Dear Tina, I am delighted you enjoyed your stay here had had a memorable experience in the local pub with my friends. I am only sorry you did not let me know you found the bed uncomfortable. There is a 2 inch feather and down mattress topper on that bed and an electric blanket. I can only assume you were sleeping on the connection for the blanket which indeed would be uncomfortable. I could have sorted it for you by turning the blanket so the connection would be at the bottom of the bed.The reviews on the 20th and 23rd of October are from guests who slept in the same bed. Thank you for the nice comments on the breakfast and I hope we will see you again.
