Meet your host…

Christina Byrne

Hi I am Chris your host. I have thoroughly enjoyed sharing my home with guests from all over the world for many years. I love to cook. I bake Irish soda bread and scones daily as well as making preserves from the fruits of my garden. The Slieve Blooms and Lough Boora Parklands are excellent for walking and I know them very well as I get out there to explore the trails regularly.I play traditional Irish music on Wednesday nights in one of the local pubs and often take my guests along.

Christine was very nice and helpful, but the place was a bit of a disappointment. Apparently the heat died the day before we arrived so we had to stay in a smaller room upstairs (or in the common room downstairs) which was unfortunate; and although Chris later gave us a portable heater to use, it would have been nice to have been notified before we arrived. The house was quaint and rustic but without a lot of frills, however the reality didn't quite match up with the pictures on the website. Looking at the guest book it was clear that many others enjoyed their stay though, and we got the sense that they got to enjoy a local traditional music experience that we unfortunately missed out on. Nice, but not quite our style.

Our stay with Christine at Ardmore Country House was a rare delight. Her breakfasts were scrumptious, featuring her delicious homemade brown bread and jelly. The accommodations in her wonderful home were pleasant and comfortable. Being the generous person that she is, Chris was kind enough to invite us along to a local pub where she was playing her fiddle with a band. She, her bandmates, pub staff and patrons gave us the perfect taste of Irish culture and music that we had only dreamed of (and gave us a royal welcome to boot). She also went out of her way to make sure Susan’s birthday was one she’d never forget. We highly recommend and give a billion stars to Chris and her Ardmore Country House and will stay there again on our next trip to Eire, which can’t happen soon enough.

What a lovely hostess and beautiful room we had at Ardmore House. The bed was extremely comfortable and the shower was fantastic! Kinnitty Castle was recommended for dinner and they had a superb seafood chowder. We would definitely go back!
