Marie and Matthew epitomize Irish hospitality! Marie greeted us as if we were family. She was engaging and gave us great recommendations for dining and pubs. Their B&B is beautifully decorated with special attention to details ... phone charging stations in the bedrooms, those awesome stemmed glasses (can we purchase them!) and the breakfast presentation. Matthew seemed genuinely in his element serving breakfast. He was so attentive and kind to our adult disabled son, which of course, captured my heart! Our rooms were on the top floor and very spacious. Although it is not walking distance to Galway, our taxi arrived very quickly and getting a return taxi from Quay Street is easy. This was our second visit to Ireland but our first experience booking with Ireland B&Bs. Marie & Matthew at Almara House gave our family a warm and inviting welcome to Galway, but most importantly, they gave us a precious memory!!

Almara House was our first B&B stop along our self-drive tour of Ireland and I'm glad it was. Our hosts were lovely and helpful in answering any questions we had. The two down sides: It was a bit far from the town center (not walkable) so we had to drive into town, and when we returned around 10 pm there was no parking available so we had to park on a side street and hope we didn't get towed. However, we did not and everything worked out just fine. Breakfast was delicious and the rooms were clean and comfy. I would recommend Almara House to any guest staying in the Galway area.

Not all rooms created equal!!! Ours was very small with no room for storage. Shelf over tiny sink made it extremely difficult to brush teeth or wash. Everything else - hosts/location/breakfast/parking was great.

We only had one night at Almara, as we were passing through, but the room was very lovely and so comfortable. I want to find some of those cute water decanters and glasses for home! Matt was so kind and helpful. Breakfast was yummy and the tea station came in handy, as we had pretty wet weather. The location provided easy access to the city, but was nice and quiet for sleeping. The only thing that got a little tricky was the parking, as there were not enough spots for all of the cars. Matt was great at helping us park across the street though.
