Birchwood

We had a wonderful, albeit brief stay at Birchwood. Weeks prior to our visit, we emailed Tom a small question about planning our trip around Kerry and Skellig and he provided an extraordinary amount of insight (all of which proved accurate), above and beyond what was expected or hoped for. He wasn't just a B&B host, he was our Kerry vacation guide! Although we arrived towards the later end of our arrival window, he was present, attentive and friendly and - once again - offered extensive advice about our late dinner options in Kenmare. We had an early departure as well, but breakfast was timely and wonderful. Don't let the apparent simplicity of his menu fool you: 'breakfast sandwich' doesn't begin to do it justice. Overall, we had a wonderful stay. My only regret is that I did not share a review sooner, as this is many months overdue. Maith thú!

Birchwood is an excellent location if you're interested in exploring the coasts but avoiding the Killarney tourist crowds. It's in an ideal position as a home base for exploring Beara Peninsula, the Ring of Kerry, and Dingle and the Slea Head Drive (and Tom will give you tips on places to go). I stayed four nights, which was perfect. Birchwood is also 15 minutes from Kenmare, which is a great little town with wonderful restaurants, pubs, and live music. Tom is a delightful host with delicious breakfasts, and it's a beautiful property.

We loved staying at Tom's, he was a very good host, there are very lovely views from our bedroom, the breakfast was very good with plenty of choice, Tom recommended places to eat and to visit in the surrounding area . Highly recommended, thank you very much Tom.

Birchwood is a beautiful place to stay. Tom is a Fantastic host. He suggested a wonderful place to eat dinner and things to see in the area. He even had some gluten free breakfast items for Pat!
