We phoned owner that we would arrive late (as our plane landed 45 minutes late, then we were stuck in Dublin traffic because of accident). He was very rude on the phone that we would not make it by 6:00 p.m. (though it was out of our hands). He hung up on my wife as she was trying to explain why we would be late (we were shocked by his rudeness). Got there before dark and he seemed out of sorts on our parking. The parking space is very narrow and he wanted room for cars to travel around our car and the home. (the drive way would be considered one lane anywhere else in the world). My cousin (who traveled with us) asked if she could have her eggs cooked well done (after he asked us about our breakfast choices). He told her that he only cooks them the traditional way and she could give it to one of us if she did not like it. (at this point I started to regret coming here as we wondered if we were with someone who had serious issues or wasn't taking their medication). He then said to my cousin "do not mess up the second bed that was in her room or there would be an extra charge." What an awful way to start our first experience in Ireland! At breakfast our group decided we would not let him unnerve us and we would be kind regardless of his attitude. He then relaxed a bit and let us know that he was "tired of demanding travelers expecting Hotel accommodations and that he was counting the days until retirement." So basically we received all the years of his stored up frustrations for customers he no longer wishes to serve. I do not remember when he will officially retire but if you see this before he retires save yourself some stress and find a place where the owners actually like people and their business. There are good ones out there. We stayed in 10 different places, and this was the only one with a negative review.

We stayed at Church View our first night. Pat was friendly and helpful. Two nearby attractions we enjoyed were the Dunmore Cave and the Smithwick's Experience (we enjoyed Kilkenny castle on a different trip).
