Quaint and comfortable with a great location in the Wicklow mountains. Our host, Jim, a very congenial fellow who is knowledgeable about the local area. He gave us some great restaurant and sightseeing recommendations.

From all our stays in B&B's during our 16days of travelling through Ireland, the Bracken was the one, despite the welcome of our host, on the bottom of our list concerning modern comfort. The bathroom was for people of average height far too small and the bed too narrow. Besides that, the room was cold, the heating finally worked on the morning of our departure. The house smelt like an old fashioned house. The sitting room for guests was sombre and did not encourage us to stay there. The breakfast was ok, but nothing more than that. The only positive is the area of the B&B, The wicklow mountains, which are very, very beautiful.

We stayed three nights in Bracken B&B. We had a pleasant stay. The owners are really welcoming and helpful. You see that they like to meet new people even if it's only for one night. The breakfast is gorgeous, there is space to park a car. The B&B Is along a road where cars can drive quickly but it was not an issue regarding noise to sleep. The B&B is extremely clean. The owners live in the B&B but there are 6 rooms I think, some with separate bathrooms. There is also a shared living room for the tourists. The owners live in their own area in the B&B. To our taste, the room we got (at the back with bathroom) was a little bit too small and there was an issue with shower (not enough pressure). We mentioned it to the owners and there was no issue to directly get another room. This was better to our taste (bigger room). And they already took action to improve the problem of pressure in the shower. The B&B is located 5 min. far by car from the Glendalough area where you can easily to do several different walkings/hikings. The only small downside is the bathroom which is relatively small and which could have been "refreshed" in the sense that it is a little bit old-dated but it was perfectly clean. However, we have to highlight that we are more used to stay in B&B with price per room of +/-100€/night. At Bracken you pay +/- 70€/night. Only to say a 8 is compared to what we are used to have and 10 could be given taking into consideration the ratio price/quality. But for sure, we don't regret our stay there and we recommend Bracken to any new interested person.

It is our third or maybe fourth time at the Bracken B&B. When we were living in Dublin several years ago, we were coming often to this place, but we had to leave Ireland, and we were missing so much this place and the Wicklow Mountains. Six years later, we have come back in Ireland for holidays and we decided to stay again in this B&B. We were so happy to meet again Jim and Judy!!! Perhaps, what it makes so special this place it's actually its hosts. Jim and Judy are welcoming, attentive, and they will try to make your stay wonderful. We have been very happy to come back and meet you again. The place is well located, close to Glendalough and Laragh. The visits and hiking options in this area are plenty. The rooms are spacious, tidy and clean. And the breakfast is simply great, sharing always a nice chat with Jim and Judy, who will be delighted to advise you in any of your activities in the region. THANK YOU VERY MUCH JIM AND JUDY for welcoming us like always so good, for your kind words and the gift, we hope to see you again soon. We keep you in our hearts as Glendalough, testimony of our union ;) . Kind regards. David and Melanie

The hosts were absolutely lovely and helpful - among the best we ever had! - and breakfast was great. One small downside: Our room was nice, but unfortunately it was quite chilly in the room and the central heating was switched off, so we couldn't regulate it. The bathroom was rather small and, with the overall chill, we did not want to leave the window open after showering. It might have helped if we had asked for heating right away, but on the other hand it was not offered (which it was at other BnBs).
