We had the great displeasure to learn at our arrival that she had made overbooking and that our room was not available for us ! We had planned our trip early so that we could choose where we would stay so imagine our stupor when she informed us we had to go elsewhere for the night ! According to Mary, as she had found something else for us, she did not have to bother calling us in advance to tell us that the plans had change ... Sorry but, even if the lady that hosted us for the night was very nice and sorry for us, her b&b was definitely not on the same level and we were shocked to have paid the same price for different services. I would not recommend booking in this B&B as you will not be sure to stay in it in the end. At our arrival, we have been facing a fait accompli. Mary just told us that we had to go to the other B&B and we could not know more or speak with her. It was rude and not professional at all.

Hello Solene, I am very sorry you felt that way. It happens sometimes that we get overbooked.. and i did explain that to you . I did find you an alternative B&B just beside me and hoped that was ok with you . Again apologies the distress we caused and hope you had better experience on your travels around Ireland.

Mary is a lovely and welcoming hostess. Our accommodations were nice and the bed was the most comfortable we slept in during our Ireland vacation. The breakfast was delicious. We ate dinner at The Tavern which is a very short walk from the B&B. It was an absolutely delicious meal and I highly recommend the seafood pasta.

Mary was a wonderful hostess and the breakfasts were awesome! She provided walking sticks for our climb up Croagh Patrick and those came in very handy. We had a delightful stay and would return again when we come back to Ireland and the Westport area. Our room was very spacious.

Our stay at Elmgrove was grand. Mary was gracious, welcoming and interested in our journey. We spent two nights to recover from hiking Croagh Patrick, a wise move, which allowed us to eat another remarkable meal at the award-winning Tavern across the street. The breakfasts are delicious and made to order. The room was on the small side, but very comfortable.

Mary rudely accused me of not paying for 2 vouchers for our 2 rooms (4 people). I had proof I paid for 2 vouchers - 1 voucher for each room for a total of 4 people - and I sent her 2 emails from the booking agent that proved it. She wouldn't listen and said we could not leave in the morning until she got her money. She was NOT at all nice about her approach and would not stop accusing me of trying to rip her off long enough to listen. I was stunned. She kept talking over me. We had a 5 hour drive the next day and I did not sleep all night. The next morning as we were packing our car she accused me of trying to steal my room key - which was in the room door. She even argued with me on which room I was in. I showed her the door and the key in it. She did not apologize for any of it. She was wrong, she was rude and I suggest finding a different place to stay. She was unfriendly, unapologetic and should have a "front person" that is nice to people that can run her B & B. Nice facility, lovely location, poor hostess. She was a nightmare. Good luck if you stay here. Her daughter served breakfast and was a lovely person. Mary should stay behind closed doors.

Hello Patricia, In relation to your comments regarding voucher payment as explained to you the B&B Ireland system processed payment for 2 of your party of 4. On investigation, B&B Ireland informed us there had been issues with their voucher system, hence the misunderstanding,. Unfortunately your party had already left when we were made aware of the situation. At no point were you accused of "ripping us off" and i apologise if you felt that way. .We asked if room keys were left in the door/room as we ask all our guests. We most certainly did not accuse you of trying to steal room key.. We are sorry you felt this way about your stay with us, but would welcome you back with a Cead Mile Failte given the opportunity again.
