The house and pub were beautiful, the room was clean and comfortable. That being said, this was the most unfriendly of the places we stayed during our ten day trip. The patroness did not want to take either my Ireland B&B voucher or my vacation company voucher. There was a large sign saying that they could refuse service to anyone and we got the distinct feeling that it might be us. The sitting area and room were peppered with signs telling us no coffee or tea service in the rooms, only in the pub, no fast food, no running the shower after 11 PM and a few others. We were told to not park on the street in front of the b and b, but were directed to the public parking lot on the other end of town. We were told that we needed dinner reservations when there were only about three people in the pub. Breakfast was OK except for the bowl of very brown fruit. The girls working there in the morning were great - the high point of the stay.

We stayed a week. It was our base camp for visiting Dublin and the region. This is a very nice place to stay and the staff very helpfull. The room was very clean, bed confortable and the breakfast was good. Rooms were described with a view on the website but our was with a view on the nearby wall. Except for that, I would recommend this B&B without hesitation.

One reason we chose Jacob's Well was the proximity to the rail system, our plans were to enjoy Dublin the last few days of our trip. We ended up catching the train at Greystones as the train does not operate out of Rathdrum throughout the day. Just morning and evening for commuters. It was really no problem though, Greystones is a very picturesque town and quite enjoyable. The B&B was very nice, our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The employee that showed us to our room was very nice, knowledgeable and made us feel most welcome. We enjoyed staying above the pub. We did not experience any noise and the views from the bedroom windows were beautiful. My only issue was with the water pressure in the shower but not a deal-breaker! We had dinner in the pub, it was delicious and our waitress was delightful. Our breakfast was very good as well. We had to leave early on our last day to catch a flight in Dublin, our waitress went through the trouble of preparing a light breakfast the night before. Wrapped it up and put it in the upstairs refrigerator for us before we left. All in all, our experience at Jacob's Well was very nice and I would stay there again.

We recently took a family vacation with eight of us. The first two nights of our Ireland adventure started at Jacob’s Well in Rathdrum. Upon arrival at Jacob’s Well, the narrow streets were a bit daunting but when I realized that I was not going to get a ticket for parking on the sidewalk, I joined in with everyone else and did so! Noel, Helen and all their staff were great! From the moment we arrived, until the minute we left we felt very welcome in their B&B and attached pub. The B&B was clean and well kept. The beds were very comfortable; the food was delicious – especially Helen’s brown bread. There are many places to walk to in the evening or early morning. The experience we had in Rathdrum is one we will remember for a lifetime.

I selected Jacob Wells B&B because it sounded like a good place to stay, but the pictures are very deceiving. The WiFi was very weak in our room. The bathroom was tiny but that's ok because I'm American and I'm used to large bathrooms. The beds...oh my...these beds were the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in. I had this huge bump in the middle of the bed and I kept rolling to the side...almost off the bed. I ended up having to sleep diagonally. If I had know that the B&B was above or attached to a pub I for sure would not had stayed. The noise level was too much. Even after the pub closed, they were out in the back smashing cans and sounded like bottles breaking. We were not greeted very well, in fact I'm not even sure if I met the hostess/owner or just another worker of the pub. We were asked what time we wanted breakfast in the morning and good thing we said 815am for the "chef" did not arrive until 8am and we finally got our breakfast around 830ish. We decided that morning that we were going to forfeit our last nights stay and check into a hotel in Dublin. Would I recommend this place to others? Probably not. Would I be a return guest? Definitely not.
