Had a really good time in the lodge. After refurbishing the rooms we were the first guests in the season. The host Donal was very kind and anxious to fulfill your request. The area is very nice but in February a little rough. We found in the village Oughterrad some beautiful restaurants. So, everything was fine. We will return

Really enjoyed Nonaim Lodge. We wanted to be out in the country with peace and quiet and still have access to Galway city. Had our best bed in a B&B in Ireland, great breakfasts, a really powerful shower and some really good travel tips given to us by Donal. Would definitely stay here again and will be recommending this B&B to my friends.

We loved our stay at Connie and Donal’s lodge. The room was very nice and clean and the guest lounge is a nice place to relax. The breakfast was delicious and versatile. The location is perfect for a quiet getaway and is a good base for exploring the Connemara-region and Galway. Connie and Donal were really lovely and helpful and gave a lot of hints on where (and when) to go.

All the stars. Totally, I give them all the stars. What we wanted was a few slow days in the middle of a busy vacation to just relax and take in the beauty of Ireland, and boy howdy did we get it. From the start, our hosts were thinking about how to make our experience its best. We got a booking email advising us to make sure we had our dinner before we made the 11-km drive from the nearest town, and so we arrived fortified with pizzas we picked up along the way. Donal greeted us cheerfully despite the late hour (we had a long day, so we'd called to let him know we were arriving late, which I advise if you think you won't be there by 6 or so), got us some glasses for our drinks, and showed us to our comfy, spacious room. We watched the midsummer sky out the large picture window in the common room, and slept comfortably thanks to the blackout shades (which protected us from the sunrise at something like 4am). The breakfasts were amazingly good, probably the best poached eggs I've had in years, in the sunny breakfast room complete with bird feeder outside the picture window. We spent the first day hiking and making a trip into town for snacks, and then on our second day Donal helped us map out a trip up through the gorgeous hills of Connemara, and the next day's trip through the Burren to the Cliffs of Moher. The rooms are comfortable and meticulously clean, and the location cannot be beat: quiet, beautiful, peaceful. There are lots of helpful little touches like the blackout shades that make a real difference. If you're staying here, a little planning ahead goes a long way: stop for some snacks and maybe a bottle of wine or whiskey to enjoy overlooking the lake. Bring your camera or binoculars because the birdwatching is great, and it's about a 2km walk to the Western Way trailhead. Their jetty is a lovely place to watch the sunset from the lake shore. This stay was really a highlight of our vacation, and we're so happy to have found Nonaim Lodge!
