Kenmare, Kerry, V93 R2P5

0.5km from Kenmare

Meet your host…

Julia O'Connor

I have been in the hospitality business since 1991 and I do enjoy meeting people and engaging in conversation. During the winter months I do a lot of walking nearby. I've also walked abroad; Grand Cayon in the U.S., Matchu Pitchu, South America, las Alpujarras, Spain and Brittany, France. I also cycle, I've completed the Ring of Kerry, cycled in Poland and France. I also cook and enjoy having people for dinner. When totally relaxed I enjoy reading and am a member of the local book club.

I only wish my husband had not been terribly sick when we arrived at An Bruachan; even so, we had a memorable stay. Our room was lovely, the perfect place for a weary traveler to curl up in bed and relax. Breakfast was outstanding--I even took a photo of my pancakes surrounded by an avalanche of fresh fruit. Julia herself was down to earth, helpful, and easy to talk to. Best of all was the lull-you-to-sleep sound of the namesake brook babbling away all night. One of the best B&Bs we found in Ireland!

Julia was wonderful! She was so accommodating and met us wtih tea and delicious lemon cake at the later afternoon. Unlike other hosts who more or less leave you alone, she enjoyed talking with us and told us about the area and about Ireland in general. Her rooms were great, clean and neat and she makes the BEST breakfasts so much so that I had the same thing two days in a row. You can't go wrong staying here if you want to truly want to get to know someone from Ireland who enjoys hosting a great B and B! Thanks so much Julia (and I will look up that book you had on "Wild Women of Ireland" I so enjoyed reading it while I was there. Diane and Scott

This was probably my favorite out of all the B&B we stayed at. Julia is very sweet and even offered us a ride into the city. The grounds are beautiful with a running creek outback. The location is great, It is close enough to walk into the town. Breakfast was always amazing with lots of choices.

We stayed in 8 different B&Bs while in Ireland and this was our favorite! The hostess was very accommodating, rooms were lovely, breakfasts were delicious. Location is close enough to town to walk though if driving there is handy parking across from a church right in the middle of town. We stayed here 2 nights, and were able to schedule a private full-day tour of Ring of Kerry which picked us up in town, and a small group walking tour of the Dingle Penninsula the next day that picked us up in Killarney. Location was great.

My favorite place in our trip to Ireland. Julia was welcoming and offered tea and cake upon our arrival. Lovely, comfortable sitting room, wonderful guest room with attention to detail. Immaculate. Breakfast was so carefully prepared and lovely. The gardens and yard added to the setting (though it rained while we were there) and suggestions for travel and visits to town were spot on. We loved our visit to Kenmare and our stay in An Bruachan was a delight.
