Meet your host…

Julia O'Connor

I have been in the hospitality business since 1991 and I do enjoy meeting people and engaging in conversation. During the winter months I do a lot of walking nearby. I've also walked abroad; Grand Cayon in the U.S., Matchu Pitchu, South America, las Alpujarras, Spain and Brittany, France. I also cycle, I've completed the Ring of Kerry, cycled in Poland and France. I also cook and enjoy having people for dinner. When totally relaxed I enjoy reading and am a member of the local book club.

My family and I stayed two nights at An Bruachan and had a lovely stay! Julia is so very welcoming and enjoyed having my three boys explore the garden and brook on the property. The location is perfect for the Ring of Kerry and is close enough to walk to the town of Kenmare. Ethna hosted delicious breakfasts each morning and we would definitely stay there again.

Loved this B&B. Welcomed warmly and given lovely tea and cake. Room was spacious and had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. Loved the sound of the river rushing by the house, it helped me to sleep. Beautiful place!

We had the unfortunate problem of a flat tire on the Slea Head Drive and did not arrive at Julia's place until about 10 at night. She was so gracious to welcome us in after a very long day and at such a late hour. She spent Sunday morning on the phone with a great many people in an attempt to get someone to open their tire shop on a Bank Holiday no less and she was able to get Ian to open just long enough to get us a brand new tire so we could resume our trip. I wish was had more time to spend there. The location is great to Kenmare and she was the most perfect hostess and I would highly recommend her place to stay.

We loved staying at An Bruachan and regret that we only were able to stay one night! The room was wonderful, the garden views were grand, and we loved the town of Kenmare! Our hostess was very friendly and breakfast was yummy, too!
