We liked being within walking distance of the Anvil Bar for dinner and the Murphy’s Bar for a drink. We enjoyed meeting the Murphy’s Bar owners and having learning about Irish whiskeys in the history of the place after our long drive from Lough Derg.
Murphys Farmhouse was difficult to find though, with us being new to that part of the country and depending on Google Maps, -which did not want to find the town name Boolteens.
The directions on the website could be improved to explain how R561 continues through Castlemains going West to Boolteens after crossing the River Maine at R561/N70. Those turns across the river is very confusing to new travelers because the roads are all named the same.
For example, we kept looking for Murphy’s Bar in Boolteens, not realizing we were still in Castlemaine.
Maybe you could mention having to cross the river BEFORE the very important turn going WEST BACK ONTO R561 at the Wild Colonial Boy statue landmark, between the Griffins Bar and Restaurant, the Centra Convenience Store and the Castle Inn Bar?

Lovely house, the hosts were very welcoming too. Nice and clean rom, the bed was extremely comfortable – it was hard to get out of it! The breakfast was delicious, I would just suggest another vegetarian option apart from the porridge. Would definitely come back!

Warm, welcoming, delicious! Our room was bright and very comfortable. The walk down to the pub was an added Irish bonus! Breakfast was delicious with many options! Even with the B&B being full, we found peace and quiet! An absolute 10 and must stay!
