Tara Farm

Kenmare, Kerry, V93KVX3

1km from Kenmare

Meet your host…

Mrs Anne Finn Maybury

Tara Farm has been taking in Guests since 1967 so you could say I was born into the business. My mother Margaret ran it for about 30 years and now I have taken over the mantel. I am a retired Secondary School Teacher (June 2016) , I love meeting people and being involved in this business affords you that opportunity. I have a passion for all things "old" , I love to cook and bake ,swim and read with a passion for local history. Married to Sean Finn, with two sons Richard and Seanie.

Ideally located with breathtaking panoramas of Kenmare Bay and County Kerry’s mountainous landscape, Tara Farm is a rural haven on a stunning 30 acres of land. Welcoming guests since 1967, guests can enjoy delicious breakfasts, with seafood a speciality, as well as arranged fishing trips. Only 1km from the heritage town of Kenmare, visitors can golf, swim, horse ride, hill walk and take the Seafari boat trip to explore the area’s wildlife. The town also boasts gourmet restaurants and lively pubs.

Farmstay Experience

Tara Farm is beautifully situated overlooking Kenmare Bay and Mountains, with river Finnehy flowing through its lands and direct access to Tubrid Cove with its private shoreline. Guests are invited to roam the fields and observe the dry cattle stock on the land or enjoy a walk along the banks of the river.

We enjoyed our stay at Tara Farm. We found the B&B to be clean and comfortable. The breakfast room has beautiful views that make a wonderful start to the day. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. The title of Farmstead Experience is a little misleading. While in a beautiful, quiet, rural area, this is not a farm. We would recommend this location to others.

Thank you for your comments. However I wish to correct the following . Tara Farm is a Farm and we do have dry cattle on the land. our land stretches to the banks of the Finnehy River and we also enjoy access to Tubrid Cove with its sheltered shore on the Bay . The animals can often be seen from the bedrooms and living/diningroom depending on which fields they are grazing at that time . We are not a dairy farm . 'we are fortunate to be in the countryside yet only 1 km or a ten minute walk into the Town of Kenmare. For those of you reading this we also have self catering cottages on the Farm for rent. Best wishes Anne Maybury

Our stay at Tara Farm was delightful. Everything was clean, comfortable and as described. Guests choose their hot breakfast from a menu the night before. In addition to this home cooked meal, there was a buffet with additional choices. Food was excellent. Ann and her husband were happy to answer questions. If you are going for the “farm experience” I would recommend checking into the details of that. I did not observe a farm close enough to observe milking. However, we did not inquire about it, so perhaps that experience is available. We would stay there again!

Everything was absolutely fabulous. Located in a quiet residential area, but within 5 - 10 min. walking distance of town. Tara was a lovely host in very pleasant accommodation (not to forget her husband). Would highly recommend Tara Farm B & B. Sahanin & Andreas

We stayed at 5 different B&B's while visiting Ireland. Tara Farm was by far our favorite! Our room was spacious with a gorgeous view out the bay window. The bed was super comfortable too! Now let's talk about the breakfast.... there were 3 different kinds of cheese and cold cuts every day along with cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit salad, and 2 juices. Then came the hot breakfast! I loved the porridge and my husband had poached eggs with ham one day then poached eggs with ham and bacon the next. Someone next to us had pancakes and they looked delicious! We would definitely stay here again.
