Salmon Leap Farm

Killarney, Kerry, V93 DF8H

14km from Killarney

Meet your host…

Sean O'Donoghue

The O'Donoghue family have owned (for hundreds of years) and managed Salmon Leap Farm as a B+B since 1963. Sheila and Flor O'Donoghue started the B+B and they are still part of the team along with Sean(son), Eilish(daughter in law) and Peter(grandson).Salmon Leap Farm has evolved over the years to what it is today, a 3 star, eco friendly B+B. We celebrated our 50th anniversary as a bed and breakfast in 2013 which we think was a milestone in the tourist business in Ireland.

V93 DF8H

Enjoy the rustic charm of an historic 200-year-old farmhouse in a scenic valley location, at Salmon Leap Farm. In the O’Donoghue family for many generations, it has operated as a bed and breakfast since 1963 and sits upon a Christian burial ground dated back to 800 AD. Just 14km from Killarney, guests can avail of private parking, power showers and the hosts' excellent local knowledge. A superb touring base for the Ring of Kerry and Dingle Peninsula, guests are offered guided walks of the Killarney area, suited to both beginners and more experienced walkers.

We so loved this B&B! The rural setting was enticing to us, and the home itself felt and looked like the wonderful, original country houses we had dreamed of seeing. Both inside and outside were welcoming to us...the inside beautifully decorated, and the outside yard and home like a dream place. It and the beautiful view all around were so peaceful, we could have stayed much longer! We enjoyed visiting with Sheila and Sean, and we were happy with the delicious breakfast. Sean graciously gave us directions and advice for the rest of our journey, for which we felt very appreciative. Thank you for being such wonderful hosts!

Salmon Leap was one of our favorite B&B's! Sean was quiet but extremely pleasant and accommodating. Our room was magnificent and very roomy! Breakfast was very good and Sean even gave us instructions to Muckross House, which was one our trip highlights! The parlor even had books about the different wildlife and plants you may experience while at the cottage. Such a lovely stay! Highly recommend!

Es waren tolle 4 Tage in Killarney und die Unterkunft war gemütlich und sehr sauber. Das Frühstück war hervorragend, besonders lecker war das Porridge. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

Very impressive B&B with an interesting ecological concept. Everything is well organised! A variety of different delicious components for breakfast. Despite the fact that the house is located on the main road, the rooms are very quiet.

We had a wonderful stay here. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the shower was the best! Sean was very hospitable to us and the breakfast was very good. We appreciated that he asked if there’s any way he could improve our experience, and we told him we liked it just the way it was.
