Meet your host…

Sean O'Donoghue

The O'Donoghue family have owned (for hundreds of years) and managed Salmon Leap Farm as a B+B since 1963. Sheila and Flor O'Donoghue started the B+B and they are still part of the team along with Sean(son), Eilish(daughter in law) and Peter(grandson).Salmon Leap Farm has evolved over the years to what it is today, a 3 star, eco friendly B+B. We celebrated our 50th anniversary as a bed and breakfast in 2013 which we think was a milestone in the tourist business in Ireland.

We were on March 18 th. guest in Salmon Leap Farm. We had a very warm welcome despite the beginning of the corona crisis. Thank you very much for that. Our room and the breakfast room were very nice and we felt very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent. We enjoyed our stay very much.

We loved the peaceful countryside atmosphere. Our hosts made us feel genuinely welcomed. Sean brought us the delicious Irish breakfast and amazing coffee each morning. The view of the sheep on the mountainside across the road was a picture of things to come throughout Ireland. Nearby Ross castle had some wonderful views. My family and I would highly recommend a stay here. Just a down "home" feeling...

We had an amazing stay here, from the moment we checked in and filled out our breakfast request choice cards, to lounging in the parlour with a warm fire, to enjoying our hosts' recommendations on what to do in Killarney. We drove to Kenmare and enjoyed the rock beaches before we got to Salmon Leap, and then in the evening we wandered Killarney before having dinner at Laurel's Pub. In the morning after a traditional Irish breakfast for my partner and a bowl of Irish porridge for me, we headed to Killarney National Forest were we saw the Torc waterfall, Muckross House, and then spent an hour on horseback going through the forest with a guide (best money we spent in Ireland btw . . . look for his stand with the horses near the entrance to the Muckross House but on the other side of the road). Perfect location to enjoy so much that this area has to offer. The rooms were huge, the bathrooms well updated, and the farmhouse had beautiful gardens.
