The history of this B and B is quite remarkable. Built in 1776! The hosts were VERY nice and the breakfast was great! There is a small town 2 km from Moate Lodge and we had a great supper there. The room is very small and the bathroom has been modified to be accommodating for 2022.

Such a neat property! beautiful home, wonderful people. we were greeted with cakes and tea in the evening and sat by the fire talking with our hosts for at least an hour. they were wonderful! the bed was SO comfy and breakfast was perfect, our last before we had to get to the airport (which was less than an hour away). Stop in to the Irish National Stud if you're here.
Host's Reply: Thank you Katie for staying at Moate Lodge and thank you for your amazing review.delighted you both enjoyed yourselves and hope we can welcome you back again very soon.

Mrs. Mary and Mr. Raymond are the two sweetest people I encountered while traveling. Genuinely kind, concerned, and most excellent people to have a great conversation with. The lodge is beautiful and well kept. Centrally located in Athy, you can be in Dublin or take a drive through the mountains to Brea. Absolutely reccomend. Loved it.
Host's Reply: Thank you Ronnie for taking the time to write a lovely review. It is a great start to the new year for Raymond and myself to know that our work is appreciated. Hope you might get to return again some day.
Happy New Year

Mid July we attended a concert in Nowlan Park, Kilkenny and this was the nearest available overnight accommodation. However, it was our treat! The rooms are clean & comfortable, the house, gardens and farmland are idyllic. We also enjoyed a special tour of Raymond’s ‘man-cave’- an outbuilding housing a home cinema with old movie posters and then upstairs a large room with WW1 & WW11 artefacts, photographs, newspaper clippings and historical facts with relevant local connections- all very interesting and informative! Thank you both Mary & Raymond!😊
