On a working farm, guests can enjoy great food and hospitality from host Gretta Power. Just 6km from the picturesque village of Freshford, guests can enjoy a pint or two and even participate in the Irish Conker Championships held annually in the village. Guests will be superbly located to tour medieval Kilkenny city, with its magnificent castle, St. Canice’s Cathedral and National Crafts Gallery, and the exceptional Rock of Cashel in nearby Tipperary. Families are very welcome at the bed and breakfast.

The Bungalow Farmhouse is set on a working beef, sheep and horse farm. Guests are welcome to see, and where possible, take part in the farm activities that are taking place at the time of their visit such as feeding the orphan lambs and horses.  Guests can also watch Sean the Farmer/Host making silage/hay, rounding up the sheep or they can just go for a casual stroll around the farm.

We had a very pleasant stay with Greta in September 28th. Our room was comfortable and warm and Greta was very welcoming. Breakfast in the morning was probably the best we had during our 8 days in Ireland, especially the freshly made scones and jam! The breakfast room has a wonderful view and overlooked the farmland and horses. After breakfast, we asked if we could please see the horses. Greta said we could pick apples from the trees beside the house and go to the pasture, which we did. The horses came right up to us and it was so fun to feed them the apples! It was the highlight of our stay. Location is about 25 minutes outside Kilkenny. We hope to be back some day!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Beautiful, relaxed location was a pleasant break from the busy downtown. Accommodations were comfortable and Gretta's hospitality unsurpassed. We enjoyed our many conversations with her and her husband. Breakfasts were excellent and everyone working there were friendly and hospitable. A lovely experience!

This was a lovely working farm B&B. It is in the middle of nowhere, so if you want to ‘un-plug’ this is the place to do it. It was a beautiful old farm house. Unfortunately, the hosts were away at a wedding event so we never met them upon or arrival, or during the course of our 1 day stay. We were greeted by the hosts’ son, who gave us our key to our room and answered a few questions about the closest eating establishments and the town of Kilkenny. We did however find a great little bar/hotel on the way in for the evening that was showing the semi-finals of the Hurling Championship in which Kilkenny was playing! It was a sight to see! The breakfast at this B&B gave you many options. I opted for the French Toast, but I was unhappy with the taste. This was my least favorite B&B of our 7-day trip. I felt like we were just turned loose in someone’s house after receiving our keys, and no one was there to check out with upon our departure. Although the farm and house were lovely, toiletries that were in the bathroom looked like the previous guests left them and I feel we lacked the hospitality we received at the other B&B’s

Had a lovely relaxed stay at The Bungalow. Gretta and her husband were fantastic hosts and we enjoyed great chat over breakfast. Excellent location with lovely clean rooms. Beautiful breakfast served with scones and homemade jam.
