Farmstay Experience

Lough Owel Lodge in Westmeath is a working farm where guests can enjoy walking through the fields to the lake mingling with the cows and calves on the way.  Guests might be lucky enough to be at the farm to see the new born lambs in the spring and all guests are very welcome to interact with the two resident donkeys Sonny and Cher who are always on the lookout for something nice to eat!  If during the guest visit there is a farmyard activity with the animals they are welcome to look on.

Spectacular B&B. Aideen was welcoming, plus she cooked and presented a fabulous breakfast! The space was very clean and tidy and the farm provided a lovely setting to unwind. I loved my peaceful stay and only wish I could have stayed longer!

Aideen and Martin were wonderful hosts. The grounds of their home were beautiful and we enjoyed a cup of tea while sitting outside watching the animals. Our room was absolutely beautiful with a canopy bed! We loved our time staying in their lovely home.

This place is amazing. The hostess was very well organized and super friendly (not to mention a great cook)! She even gave us one of her recipes. The room we stayed in was fabulous with a super comfortable bed.

What a Wonderful Place! This was our last stop on a week-long trip and it was wonderful! The Lodge is set in a beautiful location in the Midlands; far enough from town to make for a quiet getaway but close enough to have some restaurants, nightlife and services close by. An October stay made it all the more pleasant with the changing leaves and the fresh cool air! Our room was very spacious and exceptionally clean with a separate small sitting area. The en-suite bath was clean and sizable. The bed was comfortable. The flat screen TV had sufficient programming options. The hosts were pleasant and accessible and the beautiful home was open to all- we could use the sitting room and dining area at any time of day or night. Breakfast was made to order and served in the lovely dining area! We would highly recommend and would definitely stay again if we were nearby!

We were at Lough Owel Lodge for only one night. It would have been lovely to have stayed longer. The location is wonderful. Quiet and beautiful. Aideen and Martin were gracious and helpful. We arrived later than planned after a long day and Aideen offered to drive us to town so we could get some dinner. It was a very welcome and generous offer -- we were dreading having to do any more driving and hoped to have a pint with our meal. A taxi was easy to arrange for the trip back. Breakfast was delicious. Many thanks to our hosts.
