Bay Cottage Bed & Breakfast

Crumlin, Antrim, BT29 4ED

6 Miles from Crumlin

Meet your host…

Elizabeth McBride

My family and I enjoy meeting guests and sharing their love of Northern Ireland and particularly the Lough Neagh area. My decision to open a B&B in the family home was inspired as it provides an opportunity to talk about N.I, use the wonderful local produce for breakfast and is an excuse to have lots of free range hens in the field and the occasional duck and goose. In the late Spring and Summer the eggs from the latter two are used for baking with pretty good results!

Bay Cottage offers guests the choice of two comfortable bedrooms (one ensuite, one with private bathroom) and the use of a cosy sitting room, furnished with an eclectic mix of furniture or a contemporary apartment - all with views of Lough Neagh. Breakfast and the optional evening meal use local produce whenever possible. This includes our own eggs from our free range hens and seasonal vegetables and fruit. Parking is available for a variety of transport ranging from cars to canoes, including motorbikes! An insulated kennel and run is available for canine guests.

How to get here

Drive past the International airport (airport should be on the left hand side) straight over the mini roundabouts and you end up on the British Road, which takes you past the large long stay carpark and the freight depot.  It is a very rural road.  Go to the end of the British Road, turn left at the T Junction, then almost immediately right onto the Ballyginniff Road.   This takes you down virtually to the Lough Shore, another T junction, this time turn right onto Loughview Road. Drive along the road, past a cottage and large modern house set back from the road, and you will see Bay Cottage on the right hand side – you cannot miss us as there is a wind turbine in the garden, as well as the hens, ducks and geese.

Very quiet area with a lovely pub just minutes away on foot. Elizabeth and her husband were extremely welcoming and it was a casual and comfortable atmosphere. Thank you for having us!

How nice to stay in a home with history! Elizabeth’s suggestions for a garden stroll and dinner were just what we wanted for a lovely evening. Breakfast was generous and prepared perfectly.

Elizabeth was very warm, welcoming, and accommodating during our stay. The food was delicious, and of all our B&B stays on our trip, our bedroom was by far the biggest and most comfortable. Not to mention, there was also the most beautiful view Lough Neah from our bedroom perch. It was beautiful and serene.

Our favorite B&B from the trip! The view of the lake from the home is beautiful! The room was more than a room it was an apartment complete with galley kitchen, dining area, living room and private bath. Breakfast was exceptional whether you made a hot or cold selection. We particularly enjoyed the wheaten bread, which Elizabeth explained is unique to each family in Ireland! Elizabeth was a truly lovely hostess from start to finish. She made us feel so welcomed and provided information about our excursion to Belfast that made the trip even more special. Thanks to Elizabeth’s suggestion to stop by St.George’s Market, we were able to meet a woman who hand makes wool sweaters, which had been difficult to find throughout our trip! We also loved all the animals at the home particularly gypsy! Would highly recommend and love to visit again! Thank you, Elizabeth!

I would give this b&b 12 stars ! We really enjoyed our visit in north Ireland like sleeping at Elizabeth's place. Very welcoming house with everything you need. We felt like it was our little home out there. Very funny fly eater ducks on the yard... superb breakfast even for "vege" people that we are :) Thanks again Elizabeth !!
