Meet your host…

Marie Power & Peter Wortmann

Peter and I have been welcoming guests here since 1994 and are delighted to see so many return year after year. Our Daughter is now in her teens and helps out with the B&B. Peter is a Golf Tour Operator and organizes tours throughout the country for all his guests including sightseeing, gourmet restaurants and great bars. I am from Galway and can give you lots of tips for an enjoyable stay. We have a very friendly Westie who loves to greet our Guests.

A charming family residence centrally situated between city and beach. Spacious bedrooms, lounge with open fire to relax. Home-baking and locally sourced ingredients for a sumptous breakfast.

How to get here

Arriving from Dublin or the South, please take the old Dublin Road into Galway, towards city centre or Docks.  This will take you over the Wolfe Tone Bridge. Drive straight passing a Supervalue on the left.  Drive through Traffic Lights and you will come to a small island on the road where you will see the sign "Salthill via Lower Salthill". Veer right and we are at the end of the road opposite Maxol Petrol Station.  If you arrive from the North or bypass Galway, you will cross the Quincentinneal Bridge.  Keep in the left lane and take a left at the lights onto the Newcastle Road.  This will take you by NUIG and the Hospital straight to Lower Salthill.

Marie was a very accommodating hostess. She greeted us with coffee and cake while we discussed local places that would be best for dinner and music. Her recommendations were perfect. I was very grateful for the description of the location in the confirmation notice as it was a bit difficult to find the first time.

The Home was wonderful and Marie's hospitality was fantastic. The home is an easy walk to downtown and we never had any problems with parking a large van. We would stay there again on our next visit to Galway,

We had a wonderful stay here for two days! Fun to walk to the city center and see all of the excitement! We were welcomed with cookies and coffee and juice when we arrived as Marie gave us great advice on where to go! Easy drive to Cliffs of Mohr and Doolin;) Family Room was perfect for 4!

Marie was super sweet and very accommodating. The home is quiet and we felt like we were the only guests, but to our surprise, the house was full. The traditional Irish breakfast was delicious. Our room was very comfortable as well. The walk to city center was easy. Because of rain, we did take a cab at night. I definitely recommend staying here.
