Littlewood was hands-down our favorite of the B+Bs we stayed at while visiting Ireland. Lucy and Louie are kind and welcoming, both very friendly and eager to personalize your stay by getting to know you and offering suggestions based on your interests. When we arrived in a rush, wanting to quickly check in and then pop back out before a castle closed, Lucy managed to use our quick introduction to Littlewood to both make us feel at home and be understanding of our time. When I asked to meet the farm animals later in the trip, Louie took his time to introduce me to each of them and tell me a little about their personalities. The guest parlor has a lovely view of the farm, with comfortable seating and lots of interesting books regarding the history of county Offaly. We found that we quite enjoyed returning each evening to a cup of tea and a library in which we could read about whatever we had visited that day. Although many of the historical locations in Offaly are already very well-equipped to educate the visitor, we always that the books at Littlewood supplemented our understanding. Though neither of us were talented enough to take advantage of the musical instruments in the parlor, there was also a piano, guitar, and violin that we wished we knew how to use! For those who want to connect with their loved ones via social media in the mornings/evenings, the wifi in the parlor is very reliable as well. Rooms are comfortable and private, with nice private bathrooms. We stayed in summer during a heat wave, and were quite comfortably cool with a window open. Truly not a single complaint, and if we return to Offaly, I'm sure we'll be looking up Littlewood again.

What an amazing place to stay!!!! Upon arrival to Littlewood, your adventure starts with a very long driveway that is tree covered with lush green leaves and fields on either side...a step into a magical beginning. The gardens at the front of the house were spectacular, and invited you to explore the grounds even further. Our welcome from Lucy at the front door was extremely warm and welcoming. Lucy showed us to the sitting room and served tea and cakes for the 4 of us. What an incredible view the sitting room offers...The farm setting and animals were aesthetic delight. We sat in the window seat in the comfy sitting room surrounded by musical instruments and wonderful books to watch the animals dancing in the field just beyond the gate. After tea we were escorted to our rooms. Absolutely gorgeous views from the rooms we stayed in. The rooms are incredibly comfortable and extremely quiet. The beds hugged us as we slept The en-suites were clean, comfortable and large. The grounds are absolutely stunning! We were also able to par-take in the unloading of a peat delivery. This may not be for all, but for us it was an extreme pleasure to join in and help. Breakfast was brilliant. Everything so incredibly fresh. Lucy and Louie were an absolute delight. They were full of amazing fun and mystical places to visit while we were in the area. Lucy was also a wealth of information for recommendations on where to go for dinner! Thank you for making our family feel so very welcome Lucy & Louie We enjoyed our time with you and hope to be back again.

Loved Littlewood. One of our favorites on a 2 week journey in Ireland. The farm setting and animals were beautiful. I sat in the window seat in the comfy sitting room to watch the goat, sheep and birds. The grounds are beautiful! The room was comfortable and quiet, bathroom big. Breakfast was also one of the best we experienced, everything so fresh, even served some cheeses. Lucy and Louie were a delight and gave us fun places to stop on our way to next destination !

My dad and I stayed at B&Bs all over Ireland, and this one was probably my favorite — mainly because Lou let me play one of his guitars, and he played some old Carter Family/Woody Guthrie type songs on an autoharp that my 84-year-old dad loved! The grounds are beautifiul, and the room was nice. We enjoy more off-the-beaten path places and spent most of the next day in and arround Tullamore. We walked on a boardwalk through a bog preserve, then tracked down an industrial peat cutting operation. Then we toured the Tullamore DEW distillery.
