Westwood House B&B

Great location, room was spotlessly clean, breakfast was simple and delicious and Declan and Marie were very sweet hosts! Thanks for a lovely stay ❤️

We met Declan Dever at The Westwood House a 10-minute walk outside of Westport's center of activity. Our room was upstairs to the right. He offered us a choice of rooms, front or back. We took the first one he showed, though in hindsight I might have paused a moment longer. We chose the back room to avoid street noise, but noise was not a problem. It was the smallest room of the trip. It had a queen bed and a single bed, but the bathroom door couldn’t fully open because of the bed. However, the accommodation was perfectly adequate and comfortable. Our host, Declan, was grand and extremely helpful. (Best of the four we stayed with over a two-week itinerary; and that is saying something because our four B&B hosts were each wonderful.) He had no trouble adjusting my breakfast and suggested places of interest, since our two-week itinerary plan was thinnest in the Westport area. He steered us to many places on Achill Island and the National Museum of Ireland, Folk Division.

Declan & Maire are wonderful hosts. The whole place is spotlessly clean, our bedroom was most comfortable, and breakfast was freshly made and delicious. Declan is the tour guide, telling us about Downpatrick Head, which was an excellent stop, and Maire told us all about the local restaurants, where we were most impressed with JJ O'Mally's. Thank you for a most enjoyable stop on our Ireland tour.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Westwood House which had convenient parking, and a short walk into Westport where we enjoyed gourmet dining. My wife really enjoyed the new comfortable mattresses, and I was fond of the thoughtful selection of herbal teas. Hope to stay there again as we keep exploring the Wild Atlantic Way!
