We are too middle-aged fun loving and interesting people who love to sing together and make people happy. We love to tell our guests about the history of the house and share a few laughs by the fire in the evening. The Old School House Bed and Breakfast is a family-run guest house offering high-quality accommodation, less than 11 km from Cahersiveen and Portmagee Ideally located for trips to Skellig Islands, The Old School House has a garden and conservatory, and offers free Wi-Fi and excellent home-cooked breakfasts.
The house has amazing history dating back to the famine and the old school books make for very interesting reading. The conservatory is a lovely room to relax in and enjoy the peaceful sounds of the many birds that visit our secluded garden in the summer months. A wood fired pizza oven is available for guests to use in our garden.
Guests may enjoy freshly brewed tea/coffee with homemade scones in our conservatory, on arrival or make tea coffee at any time in our dining room. In the morning, a full Irish breakfast is offered, along with our famous pancakes and traditional porridge. Homemade breads, jam and marmalade, along with fresh tea, coffee and hot chocolate are also available. All of this can be enjoyed in our dining room or conservatory with garden views. There is also a welcoming woodburning stove and tv for relaxing in the evening.

Dominick and Lilian couldn't have been betters hosts. The best part of our stay was their lovely company. Dominick and my son played guitar together and sang Irish songs after we enjoyed dinner at a wonderful spot by the beach recommended by Dominick. It was great craic! Their 1800"s school house provides a look into the past with original wood floors, original chalkboard, etc. The location of the property is perfect for exploring Valentia Island and the surrounding penninsula. Also, a great home base for taking a boat out to Michael Skellig.
