Meet your host…

Patricia Gannon

Your hosts at Woodpoint House are Trish and her family. Trish is a chef trained at Ballymaloe, so guests can expect a delicious breakfast made with locally-sourced ingredients, cooked to perfection. Upon request, Trish can also prepare a fabulous evening meal using freshly caught local fish, possibly even caught by guests themselves, accompanied by wild seasonal vegetables foraged from the surrounding woodland.

Located on the southwest side of Courtmacsherry Bay, Woodpoint House is situated atop a hill, surrounded by 30 acres of woodland which boasts a stunning bluebell carpet during springtime. Despite its secluded location, the house is conveniently located just a ten-minute walk away from Courtmacsherry Village.  The stone buildings, arranged in a courtyard lined with palm trees, were initially constructed as the Boyle Estate's farm. Today, the primary residence of the estate, Courtmacsherry Hotel, stands on the seafront below.

We urge guests to make use of the shared sitting room. The walls of this room are adorned with memorabilia from the Lusitania, which sank just off the coast. The hostess is happy to prepare delicious coffee and tea upon request.

Guests are also welcome to bring their own wine and relax in one of the old leather armchairs while playing cards in front of the warm, inviting fire.

Was not satisfied at all . Trish called me mid morning to tell me that she would not be at the BnB at 6pm . I said ok because we hadn’t left Killarney yet and told he we would arrive between 6:30 and 7pm . She said ok . We arrive around 6:40 and Trish was no were to be seen . Tried calling her twice with no call back . We waited and waited and by 8:35pm she finally showed up . She apologized, but to me that was very unprofessional on her part for not being available when we arrived..The BnB was not in the greatest shape, and our room was very small with one dim light . The food was good and I enjoyed playing with Millie the dog , but that’s about it . I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Lovely traditional bed and breakfast set in woodland. Very attractive stone building in a courtyard. The owner Patricia was friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent. We really enjoyed our stay. Walking distance from town. Also, it is a great starting point for the cliff and woodland walks. Highly recommend and hope to return soon.

What a fantastic place! Trish, Mark and their furry friend Milly could not have been more welcoming and nice! Nestled at the end of a quiet road, it is situated perfectly for a nearby walk along the stunning coast. Trish and Milly took us on the walk both days we were there and it was one of the highlights of our trip! Separately, breakfast was yummy and the place was cozy. Trish had a nice fire going upon our arrival in the sitting room outside our bedroom. We couldn't recommend the Kilbawn County House any higher. We'll be back!

We enjoyed our time here immensely. Trish and Mark are lovely hosts. The town is small but wonderful. We met a few residents . Such a welcoming community. We enjoyed a whale watching expedition with lots of wildlife and breathtaking views of the area. Very serene surroundings along with the sweetest dog, Milly.
