Experience Fermanagh |The Irish Lake District

Fermanagh is undoubtedly the Irish equivalent of Britian's Lake District with the twin lakes of Lough Erne, Upper and Lower, which cover one-third of Fermanagh.

With such an abundance of water including lakes, rivers and canals there are many fantastic opportunities to island-hop your way around this summer.  Alternatively, you can join a cruise through the waters of Upper and Lower Lough Erne where you will witness some amazing scenery and landscapes. Fermanagh loughs are also home to wildlife such as ducks, grebes and kingfisher so it’s a real haven for birdwatchers. Don’t forget your camera!

Great Local Attractions

The county town of Enniskillen is ideally located to act as a base for exploring the county's attractions. Why not take a day out to visit some of Fermanagh’s key attractions like Devenish Island, Belleek Pottery, Marble Arch Caves or Enniskillen Castle?

Enjoy a short boat trip across to Devenish Island, one of the most important monastic sites in Northern Ireland. Founded by Saint Molaise in the sixth century, it includes a round tower, bell tower and a refuge from the Viking Raids.

Belleek Pottery, located on the banks of Lough Erne, is famous worldwide for its fine Parian china. It is one of Northern Ireland's oldest and most fascinating attractions.

A visit to the underground network of caves at the Marble Arch Global Geopark is a must. The longest is 7 km, so make sure not to get lost!

Enniskillen Castle dates back to the early fifteenth century and houses the museum of the Inniskilling Fusiliers and Fermanagh County Museum. It is a great day out for all the family.

The best way to explore and get involved with the locals is to experience a stay in a Fermanagh Bed and Breakfast . The B&B hosts will be able to guide you to the best local attractions or to the local pub for some folk or traditional music.
