Loughgall Country Park Walks | Armagh Walks

Loughgall Country Park in Co. Armagh is a place of natural beauty, serenity and relaxation that you can’t help but fall in love with. It is a spectacular 188-hecture estate of open farmland, a 37-acre lough and wonderful orchards. The park is a place for the whole family to enjoy together with its three fantastic country way-marked routes – the Orchard Walk, Lakeside Walk and Bridlepath.

The Orchard Walk

The Orchard Walk is a 3.29km circular route that takes in the park’s stunning orchards. It is a reasonably flat trail that follows tarmac roads, with the exception of one steep hill. It is the perfect route to appreciate the natural beauty and peacefulness of the area, with the lovely apple blossom at this time of year being a highlight. The array of colour in the orchards is striking, as the deep greens contrast beautifully with the soft pinks and bright fuchsia. The route truly comes alive as you spot different animals in their natural habitats, such as the kestrels flying high, the hares and foxes running through the grasslands and a variety of songbirds singing their cheerful tunes.

The Lakeside Walk

The Lakeside Walk is a slightly longer circular route, being 4.35km in length. This trail is suitable for all levels of walkers and takes in a section along the stunning lake shoreline. The path is easy to follow as there are a series of pink marked signposts to guide the way. The lake-viewing platforms provide the perfect spots to overlook the serene lake and to feel a true sense of peace and quiet.

The Bridlepath

The Bridlepath is the longest of the three routes as it spans 5.91km. It is a circular, scenic walk through the woodlands and picturesque countryside that just cannot be missed. The path begins in the Loughgall’s carpark and finishes near the park’s reception area, passing a fascinating manor house, ice house and stunning scenery along the way. The trail is marked with a series of red triangular signs that helpfully guide you along the route.
