Croagh Patrick – County Mayo
This is one of Ireland’s most holiest mountains, named after Saint Patrick. Located near Westport in County Mayo, Croagh Patrick is still an important site of pilgrimage. On the last Sunday in July each year, known as ‘Reek Sunday‘, up to 15,000 people climb it.
Kells – County Meath
The Abbey Of Kells is associated with Saint Colmcille and a famous illuminated manuscript called the Books of Kells, now kept at Trinity College Dublin. Kells is an hour drive from Dublin and a round tower and five large Celtic crosses can still be viewed there.
Glendalough – County Wicklow
The monastic city of Glendalough dates from the 7th century and is located amidst breathtaking mountain scenery and natural oak woodlands. Glendalough has been a place of Christian meditation and learning for over 1500 years and is associated with St Kevin. The 30 metre high round tower and medieval gateway are a priceless part of Irelands sacred heritage
