The Rose of Tralee International Festival 2014
The World famous Rose of Tralee International Festival 2014 takes place from 15-19 August 2014. It’s one of Ireland's largest and longest running festivals, celebrating an impressive 55 years this year! The highlight of the festival is the crowning of the Rose of Tralee; the winner is chosen from 32 young women of Irish descent from around the World. The festival brings the girls and their families to County Kerry for a global celebration of Irish culture.
In addition to the crowning of the Rose of Tralee the festival has over 80 hours of free and affordable entertainment in and around the streets of Tralee including street entertainment, live concerts, theatre, circus, markets, funfair, fireworks family and children's entertainment, an air display and the Rose parades. There is something for everyone.
The Rose element of the Festival is focused around the International Roses who, along with their families and friends, have traveled to Tralee from Ireland and around the world in the hope of becoming the Rose of Tralee. The Roses take time to visit various attractions in Tralee and meet visitors in the town centre, and can be seen at any of the three parades that take place during the Festival.
If you’re heading to Tralee or if you wish to see more of Kerry, there is plenty to see and do in the area from the Ring of Kerry to Muckross House Park in Killarney.
