What's On in Donegal
Looking to get a last minute holiday in before you say goodbye to the summer? It’s all happening in Co. Donegal for the month of August so why not head West?! Whether it’s a food festival to fill your appetite for entertainment or a marathon to get your heart racing there’s now is the time to escape to the coastal county. Check out the major events in Donegal this coming month.
Ballyshannon Folk Festival
Ireland’s oldest Traditional Music Festival returns to the oldest town in Ireland from 31st July – 3rd August. The line-up has a wide variety of acts from exciting alt – folk act Tupelo gracing the stage on Friday night to Paul Brady who closes the weekend off. Workshops and pub sessions will be on offer throughout the town so you won’t have to go far!
The Wild Atlantic Craft Beer Festival
Ballyshannon will also host the very first Wild Atlantic Craft Beer Festival during the folk festival. This festival will showcase the best in local craft beer in Ireland with the beautiful backdrop of the Wild Atlantic Way. Hosted by the Donegal Brewing Company, the festival will welcome brewers throughout the country to showcase there creations for you to enjoy.
A Taste of Donegal
Celebrate great food and drink from 22nd August – 24th August on the Pier in Donegal Town. Combining celebrity chefs and local produce topped off with great entertainment this is one festival not to be missed! You too can join in and learn from the best at the many masterclasses available to the public. It’s perfect for the whole family with children’s entertainment available throughout the weekend.
Donegal Marathon
The Donegal full and half Marathon will start and finish in Letterkenny Town on 24th August 2014 and invites every level of runner or walker to participate and test themselves over the 26 mile course. Make sure to take in the scenery along the way!
DylanFest on the Lough
One of the most iconic singer/songwriters of our generation will be celebrated in the hills of Donegal once again. Stuck Inside of Moville, DylanFest on the lough will showcase great music and open mic sessions from 21st August – 24th August. The only festival of its kind in Ireland, some of Europe’s top Dylan acts will make their way west for some folk, blues and rock!
Clonmany Festival
This family oriented festival is packed to the rafters with Ireland’s top County music stars over 7 days. There’s plenty on offer for the family with pet shows, youth club fun days and arts and crafts during the day while open air concerts will bring the nights to a close.
