12 Days of Christmas Recipes | Christmas Crab Starter

Kathy’s Christmas Crab StarterKathy, Applecroft House

It's the festive season and we're kicking Christmas off in style with a delicious Christmas Crab starter from B&B host Kathy Brosnan of Applecroft House Bed and Breakfast in Killarney, County Kerry. Kathy has a real passion for the culinary arts and recommends this delicious recipe for you to try over Christmas.

Ingredients

  • 1 1b crabmeat.
  • 1 cup of Ritz crackers crushed.
  • 1 free range egg.
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice.
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley.
  • 1 tsp old bay seasoning.
  • 1 tbsp Worchester sauce


Method

1. Put the crab meat and crushed crackers in a bowl.
2. Whip up all the other ingredients.
3. Pour over the crab meat and crackers and make walnut size balls.
4. Place on a baking tray, drizzle with melted butter and bake for 30min at 180°C.
5. Enjoy with a tossed salad.


Optional:

Marie Rose Sauce 

Ingredients

1. 200ml mayonnaise
2. 2 tbsp tomato ketchup
3. ¼ tsp cayenne pepper
4. Dash of Tabasco or Worcestershire sauce
5. Squeeze of lemon juice, to taste
6. Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Hi Mike, yes it is Centigrade and the dip is Marie Rose Sauce which goes perfectly with the Christmas Crab Starter.
Marie Rose Ingredients:
200ml mayonnaise, 2tbsp tomato ketchup, ¼tsp cayenne pepper,
Dash of Tabasco or Worcestershire sauce, Squeeze of lemon juice, to taste -Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Looks great! I assume the 180 is in C. Also... what about the dipping sauce in the picture?
