Kildare Activities | Things to see and do in Kildare
If you're planning a visit to the Midlands, Co Kildare this summer, then a special surprise is guaranteed. Kildare is only a 50 minute car journey from the capital Dublin so it is an ideal location for a day's activity or an overnight stay in some of the beautiful B&Bs dotted along the East Coast and Midlands.
Horse Riding
Kildare is undoubtedly Ireland’s equine centre as the county boasts The National Stud in Kildare Town and three leading racecourses within its boundaries. When in the area, a day out at the races is not to be missed with a fantastic choice between the Curragh, Punchestown or Naas race courses.
Top Tip: If you fancy a thrill other than an equine one, then motor racing at Mondello Park might just be for you.
Golf
Ireland offers some of the most breathtaking links and parkland courses in the world. In Kildare you have many to choose from, including Highfield Golf and Country Club, the K Club, which impressively hosted the 2006 Ryder Club, or indeed the Curragh Golf Club. So whether you want to enjoy a few leisurely rounds of golf with family and friends or try your hand at some championship golf, Kildare has it all!
Shopping
If shopping is on your holiday check list, then a visit to Kildare Village and its beautiful range of designer outlets is truly time well spent. A visit to Newbridge Silverware is a unique and memorable experience, where you can watch the skilled craftsmen at work . What's more, after a long day's shopping you can relax and enjoy a coffee or glass of wine in The Silver Restaurant at Newbridge Silverware. Bliss!
As well as great shopping, restaurants, pubs and attractions, Kildare has a great selection of accommodation to suit every pocket. With annual festivals and so many activities to choose from, a visit to Kildare will be full of treasured memories.
