Sunny Days on the Sandy Beaches of Wexford

Ireland has once again been blessed with glorious sunshine this Spring. The country has said farewell to a mild winter and we're breaking out the summer clothes for a sunny summer (fingers crossed!). Where else should you enjoy the golden rays other than on the sandy beaches dotted along our coastline!

Wexford's Long Golden Beaches

County Wexford's coastline is taken up by long sandy beaches and caters for all desires from a leisurely swim in calm waters, to a thrilling surf  in big swells. So what beach is best for you on those sunny afternoons along the Wexford coast?

Courtown Beach
If you're the adventurous type looking to visit the South East then an afternoon at Courtown Beach is the ideal option. Fill your day with surfing, kayaking, jet skiing and power boating over by the harbour. After, enjoy a well deserved rest on the golden beach which is a certified Blue Flag beach. What's more, Courtown is a quaint village with fantastic restaurants and pubs. Apparently you'll get the best chips in Ireland in 'The Dinky Take-away'!

Rosslare Beach
Rosslare, another Blue Flag beach in Wexford, is an absolute stunner! This sandy cove is 12 km south east of Wexford town and is a perfect destination for a relaxing holiday with the family. Rosslare Strand is a safe, golden beach with sand and stone and the family can enjoy water activities, horse riding and round of golf for the adults.

Curracloe Beach
This Blue Flag Beach is just a stone's throw from Wexford Town and is one of Wexford's treasured gems.  You can look forward to walks along the 12 km of golden soft sand and enjoy a leisurely swim in the calm waters.  This beach is especially popular with tourists. You might recognize Curracloe Beach from 'Saving Private Ryan' starring Tom Hanks. If it's good enough of for the big screen, you know it's worth the visit!

Morriscastle Beach
You can find this beach on the East Coast of Wexford around 6 km from Cahore Point. Morriscastle Beach is blessed with fine sand and is the longest stretching beach in Europe. You're sure to find a spot on this 20 km stretch of sand. It's the perfect location to get some peace and quiet and enjoy an afternoon in the sun.

County Wexford is a popular destination among tourists and the long golden beaches are a big attraction to anyone who visits. If you're in search of a holiday full of adventure or just looking to relax and take in the view, County Wexford could be that perfect  spot for you!

The Best Beaches on the Wild Atlantic Way

Ireland is blessed with the best beaches in the world, Lord knows what the good man was thinking when he forgot to include endless sunshine in his creation! Probably just as well otherwise we would have ended up with cheap costas and nasty highrises and not the wealth of secluded little coves or endless miles of empty beaches we have in Ireland today.
