The Delightful Dingle Way County Kerry
The Dingle Way is a National Way-marked Trail that is approximately 179km in length, taking about 8-9 days for the average, fit adult to complete. The route completes the circuit of the Dingle Peninsula, beginning and ending in the beautiful town of Tralee, Co. Kerry. The trail passes through so many wonderful destinations, for instance, Slieve Mush, Inch Beach and even the picturesque Dingle Town.
The Terrific Terrain
The Dingle Way is a very popular route for avid walkers as it takes in such a diversity of terrain, ranging from wonderful mountains and lakes, to beautiful coastal plains and sandy beaches. This variety of landscapes never fails to take everyone’s breath away, just adding to the magic and beauty of the trail. You are guaranteed stunning views and spectacular scenery as you venture across the quiet tarmac roads, the charming cliff paths and the rocky mountain terrain. The difficulty of the Dingle Way is reasonably moderate, although it becomes tough at the foot of Mount Brandon. History and Culture
The Dingle Way is steeped in history and takes in some of Kerry’s finest archaeological sites, including ancient standing and ogham stones, the fascinating ruins of churches and castles and also the instantly-recognisable beehive huts. Walkers also enjoy the South Pole Inn, in Annascaul, which is a shrine to Tom Crean, the local Antarctic explorer.
The Dingle Way passes through so many charming villages, which gives walkers the opportunity to stop off and enjoy their surroundings, grab a bite to eat or even, stay the night. Walkers Welcome B&Bs are plentiful along the route and are the ideal choice of accommodation. Hosts will have knowledge of the trail and will provide storage facilities for all your hiking gear. A cosy bed and a hot cuppa is the perfect end to a busy day of walking and exploring. So what are you waiting for? Grab your hiking boots and head for Co. Kerry to experience this all for yourself!
