Love Ballykissangel, Love Avoca
Ballykissangel was a really popular television drama back in the 1990s and the picturesque village of Avoca in Co Wicklow, was the actual setting for this iconic series. The drama focused on an English priest who was transferred to a rural village in Ireland, namely Ballykissangel, and all the trials and tribulations he encountered. It was extremely popular in its day and now, thanks to streaming, has a renewed success and is being enjoyed by American audiences.
Colin Farrell, Hollywood is calling!
It is amazing to think that Balllykissangel launched the career of Irish Hollywood actor Colin Farrell! When on location in Avoca, he actually stayed with one of our B&Bs, who has fond memories of Colin and the cast of Ballykissangel. The series also launched the careers of Devla Kirwin and Victoria Smurfit.
