Gran Fondo Giro d'Italia Northern Ireland

Following the huge success of the Giro d'Italia Grande Partenza which was held in May 2014, Northern Ireland will welcome its first Gran Fondo Giro d'Italia on 21 June 2015.

Compete with the pro's!

Gran Fondo events are closed-road events aimed at amateur cyclists around the world who travel to the host country to participate and it also gives the opportunity to ride with previous champions of the Giro. Previous Giro d'Italia winner Stephen Roche will be an ambassador and will also ride the route giving cyclists a chance to ride along side the former pro.

There will be two race routes available which will take in some of the most historic and iconic climbs in Northern Ireland. The Mourne route is a 177km ride which will test the toughest of competitors while the Strangford route will take in the shores of Strangford lough in a 58km loop, perfect for beginners and novices.

A post-ride pasta party with beer and wine will be on the menu for all so be sure to come out for what will be a fantastic occasion! Make sure to check out our Northern Ireland holiday breaks to get a taste of what you can expect when visiting Northern Ireland.
