Meet Your Host | Anne Fitzgerald

Meet Ann Fitzgerald, B&B host at Dawn House B&B located in the beautiful County of Waterford. Ann and her family have been welcoming guests to their home for more than 27 years and have made countless friends along the way. Dawn House is quite the hidden gem and can be found just 3km from Kilmeaden Village. The house is built on 3 acres and has its very own private lake. Find out about Ann and her beautiful B&B below in our weekly 'Meet Your Host'.

What are the hidden gems close to your home?

  • Mount Congreve gardens.
  • Beautiful green fields filled with animals.
  • Quiet country roads perfect for long walks.

What is your signature dish/food?

My specialty would be crispy bacon with scrambled eggs collected from our free range corn fed hens.

Is there anything about your home that is quirky?

Yes I think so. Dawn House is built on 3 acres which is bordered by a small river. We have our own private little lake with ducks, geese, guinea fowl, hens and a beautiful peacock/hen. You can visit the sheep, lambs and pygmy goats down the field and we also have an Irish wolfhound called Meave.

Have you ever had any famous guests?

To me all my guests are famous and I welcome them with tea and home baking every time.

What is your favourite thing about the area you live in?

Our location is perfect. We are just 12 minutes drive from Waterford City and less than an hours drive from Wexford, Kilkenny, Clonmel and the Rock of Cashel. I love the quietness of our countryside too. A good night sleep is always assured.

When you are not looking after your guests what is your favourite thing to do?

I absolutely love walking, baking and taking care of all our animals.

What are your top three attractions in this country?

  • Waterford crystal.
  • Tramore beach.
  • Mount Congreve famous garden & the Comeragh Mountains.

We'd like to thank Ann for taking the time to share with us an insight into her home. To find out more on Ann's beautiful home and its ideal location, check out Dawn House Bed and Breakfast.
