Newpark House Celebrates 50 Years in Business!
It all began back in 1960, when Bernie married Earnan and Newpark House in Ennis, County Clare, became their family home. Bernie enjoyed meeting people and so decided a great way to supplement their family income was to take in lodgers. In 1966, Bernie became aware of a new organisation called ‘Irish Farmhouse Holiday’, so she went to an Grianan to learn the details of setting up a B&B and then joined the new association. In 1970, Irish Farm House Holidays and Country Homes Association amalgamated and was renamed B&B Ireland.
Wish you Were Here
In 1973, Bernie was interviewed by Judith Chambers for the programme 'Wish you Were Here' which was shown on TV on 14th January 1974 (Thames Television). In the winter of 1982, she officially promoted the Irish Famhouse Holiday (I.F.H) in the USA.
The Barron Family
Declan, Bernie’s son, joined her in the business in 1995. Bernie is still very active in the B&B as she serves breakfast most mornings. Recently the following review was written -
“Delightful House, fab breakfast, Mrs.'Newpark' is an Irish
treasure. Will recommend highly, Many thanks,
Jen & Colm, Old Leighlin, Co. Carlow."
Historic Home
Newpark House offers guests something a little bit different. It is an historic home, dating back to the 18th century and is decorated with wonderful antiques, enjoys a large library of books on Irish history for guests to read and has a fine collection of historical prints. It’s no wonder that guests return time and time again to Newpark House. With 50 years of experience in welcoming guests into their remarkable home, the Barron family know exactly what is needed for the perfect holiday experience.

It all began in 1968 when my parents, Eleanor and Victory, as a young couple had a dream. My father wanted a little land to go along with his job and my mother’s dream was to run a B&B.
