Welcome to Waterford Greenway Walking and Cycling Trail

Welcome to Waterford Greenway, the perfect destination if you love to walk, cycle or just enjoy being out in the beautiful Irish countryside. Spanning from Waterford, Ireland’s oldest city, to the beautiful coastal town of Dungarvan, this 46km greenway walking and cycling trail has something for everyone,  from stunning scenic landscapes to heaps of must see attractions.

Copper Coast B&B

Interestingly, the route follows the old disused railway line which has been revamped and now happens to be the longest walking/cycling route in Ireland. There are plenty of bike hire shops along its route along with cafes, restaurants and B&B accommodation including Copper Coast B&B, just 10 minutes from the Waterford Greenway. If are staying at the bed and breakfast, they can arrange bike hire or can pick you up from the Kilachthomas or Durrow area. Now that is good service!

See and do

Whether you choose to walk or cycle the Waterford Green trail, there will be plenty of places of interest to stop and see along its route. A few of the hidden gems include the famous Mount Congreve gardens, Kilmeade Castle, Kilmacthomas Viaduct, St Agustine’s Church and Ballyvoyle Tunnell, an extraordinary feature of Waterford’s railway heritage. The tunnel, which is 400 metres long and was built in 1878, is fully bricked and is still in great condition. You pass through the tunnel on the trail and its architecture is a testament to the wonderful craftsmanship of its time.
