Ireland's Six Beautiful National Parks

Ireland is home to six national parks with acres of stunning landscapes, breath-taking views and unique history. They are also the perfect hub for outdoor activities such as walking, cycling and water-sports. There is something for all age groups, making them the ideal destination during your visit to the Emerald isle.

Glenveagh National Park   

Location: Donegal   Size: 160km2   👇

Glenveagh National Park is located in the very scenic north-west of Donegal. There are many beautiful walking trails for all levels within the park which features rugged mountains, stunning lakes and beautiful waterfalls. The park also boasts a 19th Century castle and gardens, with guided tours available.

Wild Nephin Ballycroy National Park   

Location: Mayo   Size: 150km2   👇

Located in northwest Mayo, Wild Nephin Ballycroy National Park is dominated by the Nephin Beg mountain range. The park is remote and ideal for serious hikers, with mountainous terrain showcasing stunning unspoilt landscapes.

Connemara National Park   

Location: Galway   Size: 30km2   👇

In addition to mountains, bogs, heaths, grasslands and forest, there is also a wealth of history to explore in Connemara National Park, including 4000 year old megalithic court tombs. Enjoy nature trails, Diamond Hill Walks, Connemara ponies, picnic areas and an exhibition centre.

Wicklow Mountains National Park

Located along Ireland’s Ancient East, Wicklow Mountains National Park is home to the monastic site of Glendalough. As well as exploring the impressive ancient ruins and stunning surroundings, there are also nine way-marked walking trails, ranging from 30 minute strolls to four hour hill-walks.

The Burren National Park   

Location: Clare   Size: 15km2   👇

The Burren National Park is hugely popular with walkers, hikers and mountaineers. The Burren is rich in historical and archaeological sites with fantastic megalithic tombs, ring-forts and even a high Celtic cross.

Killarney National Park   

Location: Kerry   Size: 103km2    👇

From amazing walking trails, mountain hikes and scenic landscapes to must visit places such as Muckross House and Gardens, Torc Waterfall and Ross Castle, Killarney National Park ticks all the boxes.  I would recommend a jaunting car ride, so much fun!
