Explore the Regions of Ireland

The Emerald Isle is a wonderful country for everyone to explore with a wealth of stunning landscapes, historical sites, activity trails and welcoming towns. It is also renowned for its delicious food, atmospheric pubs and welcoming accommodation. As there is so much to see and do, Ireland is divided up into five main regions to make it easier for you to plan your trip around the island.  Each of the five regions offer visitors unique and memorable experiences.

Dublin

Dublin is the capital city of Ireland and is one of the most vibrant and friendly cities in Europe.  It is home to many famous Irish landmarks such as Trinity College and the Guinness Storehouse, along with many impressive architectural buildings such as Dublin Castle.  There are also many opportunities to enjoy the natural beauty of Dublin City, such as exploring the Dublin Mountains which offer amazing views of Ireland’s capital.

The Wild Atlantic Way

The Wild Atlantic Way is a coastal trail along the west coast of Ireland that spans nine counties including Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, Mayo, Galway, Clare, Limerick, Kerry and Cork.  It is comprised of stunning coastlines and rugged landscapes including famous attractions such as the Slieve League Cliffs in Country Donegal, The Cliffs of Moher in County Clare and The Ring of Kerry just to name a few. This 2,500km coastal trail is the perfect way to explore everything that the west of Ireland has to offer.

Ireland’s Ancient East

Ireland’s Ancient East is home to over 5,000 years’ worth of Irish history and culture. It is the perfect base for exploring fascinating ancient sites and ruins such as The Hill of Tara in Country Meath, Glendalough in County Wicklow and The Rock of Cashel in Country Tipperary.  When visiting Ireland’s Ancient East, you have the unique opportunity to delve into Irish history against a stunning backdrop of beautiful landscapes.

The Causeway Coast

The Causeway Coast is a region of stunning natural beauty, located in Northern Ireland.  Surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, it is home to many beautiful beaches, cliffs, headlands and historical sites, such as the famous Giant’s Causeway, a world heritage site in County Antrim.  The Causeway Coast is so beautiful that it is was used as a location on the hit television show Game of Thrones.

Hidden Heartlands

Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands is located in centre of Ireland incorporating a range of interesting counties such as Leitrim, Cavan and Offaly.  This area is bursting with opportunities to explore beautiful sights, complete cycling and walking trails and also take part in water-sport activities.  It is also a great location for learning about the historical past of Ireland, as it is also home to fascinating ancient ruins and castles.
