Hook Lodge - a contemporary B&B experience

Emma and Tristan, B&B hosts of Hook Lodge, WexfordMeet the couple, Emma & Tristan owners of Hook Lodge, who are offering a contemporary vibe to the B&B experience!

What to expect!

Hook Lodge is a relaxed Boutique Bed & Breakfast located on the tip of Wexford’s beautiful Hook Peninsula. As you step inside there’s an abundance of calm but surprises in each bedroom await as every detail has been thought out inspired by cities we have lived in: Tokyo, London, Sydney, New York. We focus our unique guest experience on three core beliefs, “heaps of sleep”, “healthier food” and “happier exercise”! Some of our bedrooms are large with views of the Waterford Bay and the green Wexford countryside but size isn’t everything; what the smaller rooms lack in size certainly make up in character! Keeping our guest experience in mind you’ll find neither TV channels or a telephone but carefully chosen books in each room and super comfy beds to have the best night’s sleep. Relax in our beautifully furnished library room where you’ll find a variety of books to read or try a quick workout in the exercise room to get those happy endorphins pumping! For breakfast we offer deliciously healthy options from locally sourced ingredients so that everything is set up for your day ahead. All this washed down with gorgeous local beaches and surrounding countryside will impose a relaxed pace on holiday living.

Big city life, to local country dreams

Leaving stable careers in London, we both had mentally prepared ourselves and were under no allusions of the workload laying ahead. So began our dream to leave London and move to the countryside to redesign a dated holiday home into a fully working business as a Boutique Bed & Breakfast, all within a 3 month deadline! Big city life has much to recommend it: excitement, convenience and a super-abundance of people but it is also very pressurised. Sooner or later everyone peeps over the hill to see the greener grass on the other side and some succumb to temptation and seek their opportunities elsewhere. This change began to support and define the overarching goal for our business; giving guests that moment of freedom and sense of switching off whether walking on the beaches, reading a book, or simply enjoying the moment without having to constantly check on life’s ongoing stresses.

The old-new tradition

We believe Hook lodge is creating its own niche within Ireland’s Bed & Breakfast industry that stands out as a contemporary Bed & Breakfast! It’s important to realise that holiday-goers are cultured, well-travelled looking for something more than what a hotel offers and we wanted to take the best bits from Irish B&Bs but add our own modern flavour. We believe that a unique experience is created when people get a good night sleep, fresh sea-air and healthy food! It definitely increases positivity and that’s what we are all about; trying to consistently provide all the ingredients and environment for our guests to leave them feeling super refreshed and energised!

Hook Lodge, a unique B&B experience

Guest Review:

Megan Morris - This was our favourite stay in Ireland. Emma and Tristan have put a lot of thought and effort into making a place that is both comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. Best bed, best toiletries, great choices at breakfast, and intelligent welcoming hosts. And the Hook peninsula is a hidden gem. Overall, a winner. 10/10
