St Patrick’s Festival in Dublin is taking place from the 14th – 17th March and is going to be a celebration not to be missed! Kicking off on Friday, the festival as always, promises to be a fun-filled extravaganza that all the family will enjoy.
Festival Background
The festival started back in 1996 and is now an annual event which ranks amongst the greatest celebrations in the world. The festival celebrates Irish pride, achievements and culture and its aim is to showcase everything Ireland has to offer. The event attracts visitors from all across the globe who want to experience this truly unique and special event.
What’s on for 2014?
This year plans to be the biggest and best to date and this is just a taster of what you can expect; best of all most of the entertainment is free! All the family can enjoy the Greening of Dublin City, treasure hunts and funfairs. Festival Céilis, street entertainment, guided tours and the 5k Road Race all add to the excitement. A stroll around the Craft, Beer and Food Market is a must.
To round off this fantastic weekend of fun, the St Patrick’s Day Parade happens on Monday 17th March. The theme of this year’s parade is ‘Let’s Make History’ with performers from all around the world taking part in this amazing parade. The event is an explosion of colour, entertainment, fun and is a true celebration of all things Irish.
The festival attracts thousands of people and so it is important to book your accommodation in advance of arrival to Dublin City.
