Seashore B&B welcomes John & Sally McKenna

Ann Campbell of Seashore Bed and Breakfast, located in the heart of the Sligo countryside was delighted to share her home with John and Sally McKenna, food producers, restaurateurs, artisans and overall mavericks in the world of Irish food. John and Sally travelled to ‘Yeats County’ to feature at this year’s SÓ Sligo Food Festival.

The festival was quite the hit this year with talks, discussions, demos and tastings along with food trails and the World Irish Stew Championship all happening in and around Sligo.

John and Sally kicked off the celebrations with the official opening featuring their Sligo Experience. They began their food journey in 1988 in Sligo so it was a fitting tribute that they were the guests of honour and officially kicked of the celebrations for 2015. John and Sally shared their knowledge with a Q&A joined by Regina Sexton.

Needless to say they absolutely loved their time with Ann, B&B host at Seashore, who might we add is somewhat of a maverick herself in the kitchen. John and Sally had nothing but praise for the B&B host who is renowned for her excellent standard of hospitality. You’ll find Ann’s home on the Sligo coastline which boasts stunning views of the Ox Mountains just 4km from the friendly town of Ballisodare.

When you stay at West Coast House on Achill Island in County Mayo, you will have the opportunity to taste the island’s delicacy of smoked salmon.  The salmon is reared in pristine waters off Clare Island/Achill and is prepared and oak smoked at Keem Bay Fish Products, which is just 0.4km from our bed and breakfast.

Danabel Porridge Bread Recipe

I started making my Porridge Bread about a year ago. It was so popular with guests that I carried on making it. Now, I make it everyday and leave it on the breakfast table for my guests to help themselves. I am always complimented on how tasty it is. The wonderful thing about this recipe is that it is so easy to prepare, yet so delicious!
