Rocklands House, a unique B&B experience

You are in for a real treat when staying at Rocklands House Bed & Breakfast in Kinsale, County Cork. Not only is Rocklands House in a fantastic location, but it is finished to an excellent standard with all comforts in place for a wonderful holiday. But that’s not all as your B&B host, John, excels at adding those extra touches that make for a really unique bed and breakfast experience.

Rocklands House B&B Kinsale in County CorkB&B host John says

“I also give guests recipes for our scones and breads. I have even had guests watching me bake. I’m happy to book restaurants and will drop them to town and give them a quick trip around to show town sights. Guests will be offered a night cap on return from town. I also give advice on travel in West Cork and Kerry, areas I know well.”

Guest Reviews

We picked Rocklands House because it was in Kinsale and away from the city center. To our delight it was so much more. John Bateman is an excellent host, informative but not intrusive. The room was clean and we had a fine view out our large window. The breakfast room is lovely and the meal was top drawer. The star of the show is the view of the river valley from the comfortable community room - quite amazing! We would stay here again.

Upon arrival, John went into town and booked us reservations (at Max's since Fishy Fishy was booked), came back and picked us up to drop us back in town.

We enjoyed every moment of our too short stay. Everything was superb - location, accommodation, cleanliness, food and especially host - John who made us so welcome. Our only regret is that we did not stay longer as this is a great location for exploring Kinsale and surrounding area. Hope to get back someday soon and would love to stay at Rocklands again.

If you arrive by bus, given advance notice, John will pick you up in town so you don't have to carry your luggage up the hill.

All in all, I’m sure you will agree, Rocklands House adds up to a truly unique B&B experience.

At West Coast House B&B you can taste Achill Island Smoked Salmon

When you stay at West Coast House on Achill Island in County Mayo, you will have the opportunity to taste the island’s delicacy of smoked salmon.  The salmon is reared in pristine waters off Clare Island/Achill and is prepared and oak smoked at Keem Bay Fish Products, which is just 0.4km from our bed and breakfast.

Danabel Porridge Bread Recipe

I started making my Porridge Bread about a year ago. It was so popular with guests that I carried on making it. Now, I make it everyday and leave it on the breakfast table for my guests to help themselves. I am always complimented on how tasty it is. The wonderful thing about this recipe is that it is so easy to prepare, yet so delicious!
