Galway is not only a great place to escape for a relaxing weekend or city break it’s also a great place to go on an adventure holiday and more specifically a cycling holiday. It boasts some of the most beautiful scenery on the West Coast of Ireland and has some of the friendliest people you’ll every meet. If you fancy hitting the open road or going off-road there are an abundance of cycling trails already set up for you to follow.

Cycling in Galway…

Galway on the stunning West Coast of Ireland has a number of amazing cycling trails you can follow depending on your cycling ability and energy levels!! Whether you decide on a 1 hour route or one of the more challenging 3 hour routes you will be in for some of the most spectacular views in the world; including the islands of Inishturk and Turbot, around the coast at Clifden and back across the lake-studded natural wilderness of Derrycunlagh; all stunning!

Galway City to Spiddal is another breathtaking route, cycling from the outskirts of Galway city towards Spiddal, you’ll see the Cliffs of Moher and if you’re lucky on a clear day you might even get to see the remote Aran Islands.

When you spend the day cycling there’s nothing better than relaxing in one of the many Adventure Seekers Welcome B&Bs in the area, some of which specifically cater for activity breaks. The hosts will not only provide storage facilities and local knowledge they can pre-book activities, provide directions and maps, so that all you need to do is turn up and have a fantastic time
