Why Stay in a Walkers Welcome B&B?

There is nothing nicer than staying in accommodation that is in sync with your interest or hobby. That is why Walkers Welcome B&B accommodation is the perfect choice for anyone considering a walking, hiking or rambling holiday/vacation to Ireland.

Storage Facilities

Walker’s Welcome B&Bs have to be approved by the Irish Tourism Standards Association. So you know that before you even arrive at your chosen B&B, you and your walking gear are going to get a warm reception. There’s no need to worry about storage of your outdoor clothing and equipment, as the B&Bs provide storage facilities, all separate from your bedroom. They even provide drying facilities and emergency wet gear, if needed. So with all that sorted, you can sit back and enjoy your friendly surroundings!

Personal Touch

B&Bs are just so different from hotels. It’s that personal touch that makes them so unique, yet you will still enjoy high quality accommodation, but in cosy and comfy surroundings. The sitting rooms in B&Bs are a great place to meet and chat with fellow guests. I think the highlight though has to be the B&B breakfast! A traditional Irish fry is guaranteed to set you up for a day’s rambling, but rest assured, there’ll be plenty of options on the breakfast menu to choose from. Hosts are great bakers and are renowned for their delicious brown bread and scones.

Helpful Hosts

Another benefit to staying in a Walkers Welcome B&B is that your host is genuinely interested in walking and therefore will have all the local knowledge on the best walking trails in the locality. They’ll have maps, contact details for local guides and information on transfer pick up points. They might even drop you there themselves!  They’ll advise you on the best restaurants to enjoy your evening meal in and they’ll direct you to the pub that has the best traditional music. In fact, no holiday will be complete without a night out in the pub, mixing with the locals and listening to some trad music.

So, if you want to make lasting friendships, great memories and have the best walking vacation to date, then make sure to stay in a Walkers Welcome B&B on your trip to Ireland, you won’t be disappointed!

At West Coast House B&B you can taste Achill Island Smoked Salmon

When you stay at West Coast House on Achill Island in County Mayo, you will have the opportunity to taste the island’s delicacy of smoked salmon.  The salmon is reared in pristine waters off Clare Island/Achill and is prepared and oak smoked at Keem Bay Fish Products, which is just 0.4km from our bed and breakfast.

Danabel Porridge Bread Recipe

I started making my Porridge Bread about a year ago. It was so popular with guests that I carried on making it. Now, I make it everyday and leave it on the breakfast table for my guests to help themselves. I am always complimented on how tasty it is. The wonderful thing about this recipe is that it is so easy to prepare, yet so delicious!
